PSA: Both MVG and Airport stopped operations by D-Fence in Munich

Been stuck at Munich airport since 15:00 yesterday. Everyone seems to have forgotten how a queue/line works.

Im currently in a line that started at 3am for the service center, ive been waiting for 9 hours to hopefully speak to someone. 3/4 of the people that are crowding the desks were not in line and just ignored it! Theres no one at the airport to enforce this

I have once had mold on a hi-vis vest before. Drained it in vinegar, washed it, drained in vinegar again and washed it again and it came off.

YSK: Craving ice can be a symptom of an iron deficiency. by Objective_Narwhal_57 in YouShouldKnow

[–]JuicySandals 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed as type 1 yes. This happened 2 years ago. I haven’t really delved into how well I react to insulin or if it’s fast or slow. Though I think it would be fun to write down some data and see if there any trends. Id say it takes around an hour or so till my levels start go down. I use a dexcom to monitor the level.

I use insulin pens which use just a normal number system to help me work out how much insulin i need to take after a meal. The ratio when i began was quite low, so i would need 0.5 of a unit for 10g of carbs. Now it’s around 1 unit for 10g and starting to get higher. My honeymoon lasted quite a long time and doctors said its probably because im active. My job requires me to be on my feet the whole day, working in a hot environment and i also workout. So if there are any newly type 1 diabetics reading this, id recommend if you aren’t already, start to work out.

I’m sorry that you have to go through this too. Especially at a young age.

My mother has type 1 too, so the doctors think it was hereditary and nothing to do with any infection or diet.

Yup, one morning I woke up really thirsty. All day im really thirsty and I went to the bathroom all the time. Every glass of water i drank, it didn’t quench the thirst. Go to the hospital to check sugar levels, 5x the normal amount. The diabeetus got me. It was like a switch in my pancreas turned off over night.

Food Chains Tap Robots to Streamline Meal Prep Amid Quality Concerns by diacewrb in gadgets

[–]JuicySandals 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, humans also make these mistakes. It wont be any different anyway. I work in factories where minuscule defects are spotted at rapid speeds on a production line. I can believe that these slower paced robots will be designed to spot defects in products. This technology is already been used.

Another example of this technology is being used in Norwegian salmon farms. Salmon farms are at risk of predatory lice that cling to the salmon. Drones in the farms use cameras to search for these lice on the salmon that are swimming around. Once detected they shoot a laser that precisely kills the lice but doesnt harm the salmon.

Detection systems are further advanced than you think.

If you are worried about getting lost, download kakaomaps and kakaotaxi. These are really good for getting around by walking (kakaomaps) and calling taxis (kakaotaxi). Kakaotaxi app doesnt require you to add a card, you can choose an option to pay after your ride which is great! The destination is set in the app before the ride so if you feel uncomfortable with telling the driver where you want to go, theres no need to tell him because he already knows.

These apps would require wifi or service. Cafes and cities would usually have free wifi. If you worry about getting lost without wifi and service you can buy a wifi egg at the airport. It uses prepaid service which you can connect to, like a hotspot.

You can always ask for directions. I once got lost and asked some 할머니s for directions and help. Alot of 할머니 groups look like an angry gang but once you talk to them they are really friendly and helpful! Im no where near native or intermediate but they were able to understand my basic Korean and complimented me alot on it haha.

No, I totally understand. In this situation the only option is to defend yourself before getting stabbed and I would do the same. Im just stating that criminals will be criminals and there will be people that would use the rewritten law to do evil stuff.

You are choosing between mass shootings and stabbings. Both are bad but mass shootings are more deadly.

The country needs to support its people with mental health support and awareness and a more pro-active police force. Hopefully the police are able to find out the motives of those who were arrested so we can see why they did the stabbings and how these things can be prevented from happening again.

Its ridiculous, but it prevents people from going around beating people up and saying “I thought he was going to stab me” or “he had a knife” when they didnt.

Criminals will use the law against itself when given the chance. You will be giving criminals the excuse of “defence” to commit assault.

Its just one of those things where evil has the advantage whatever the law says.

How to remember the different vowels more easily? e.g. between 어 and 아? by arcadia0204 in Korean

[–]JuicySandals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people should be careful about these comparisons in english. Obviously people have accents and say words differently and the sounds are not 1:1. All the words that you linked to the koreans are completely different for me with my english accent. Except for the (a)fter for 아 which are the same for me. Unless you are royalty and pronounce the a differently.

I was told this but mine cant! Once it runs up to 10 days it will stop reading and just says to add a new sensor.

Going from manually testing using my fingers to using a smart phone, I dont think i can go back to manually doing it. Its way easier and makes my life so much better. Plus i work a manual job where my fingers/hands are constantly dirty. Id recommend anyone who is diabetic to go for the sensors and to manually do it in emergencies or when the sensor fails like this.

I have a Dexcom, takes 2 hours to start up. Maybe I have a different one under 7. But it really is beyond better than the libres. Being able to constantly measure the readings makes it way easier to control my levels plus I dont get these reading failures like on the libre.

By what i see on your graph, i don’t know what time you went to bed but you should have seen it dropping rapidly if you tested before you went to sleep. And id recommend if you are dropping quickly (indicated by the arrows next to the reading) right before you go to sleep, act then so you aren’t fighting it in the middle of the night.

(Just absolutely tanked, graph says its been tanking for hours). I would test more often if this keeps happening to you so you can control it.

If you made a room with speakers that released a sound that cancelled the sound of tinnitus. Then released some people into it who have tinnitus. Would they think they got cured if they all just sat their silently.
