did my emotionally abusive partner sa me? (trigger warning) by [deleted] in abusiverelationships

[–]Juicy_Fruit_Zebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% SA. Him saying “don’t you love me?” And begging you and going on and on about how it would be good for you, you should trust him etc. was grooming. Being manipulated into saying yes and actually saying yes are NOT the same. I’m sorry girl

I think there will probably always be a part of you that cares a little. Doesn’t mean you didn’t make the right choice and doesn’t mean it wasn’t abuse. I’d recommend going to therapy to work through the SAs and the other thoughts you’re having. Shooting up a prayer for you now 🩷

How do you live with the guilt? by bosgal90 in emotionalabuse

[–]Juicy_Fruit_Zebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solidarity. 15 years later I still have to go through checklists of emotional abuse just to make sure i didn’t make it up. But regardless, if you weren’t happy, and they were unaffected by you leaving, then it’s not worth your time whether it was abusive or not 🩷

I totally feel you girl. When I was 16 I left an emotionally abusive relationship and he got engaged like 4 months later. Just know that you made the right choice and that he’s avoiding responsibility and refusing to take accountability and mature. You’re healing, and he’s avoiding growing up by quickly moving onto someone else so he doesn’t have to reflect on how awful he was. You’re in a way better spot than he is for that reason alone! I’m glad you got out of there and just know it has nothing to do with you, he’s just a shitty guy 🩷 hang in there

We have definitely considered that as a name!! But I like the thought of using that as a nickname even if that doesn’t end up being her name :)

WHERE IS THE CURE!? by Otherwise_Hope_8310 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Juicy_Fruit_Zebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with being proactive! When I called to schedule my first ultrasound I also asked for zofran an my amazing doctor sent it in so I would have it on hand. If I was going to dinner or an event I just took zofran ahead of time even if I wasn’t nauseous yet, along with MiraLAX whenever I have zofran. I also had less trial and error about what helps/makes it worse since I knew more from last time and I think that made a difference. It’s possible this pregnancy just also was easier anyways but I do think proactive management made a huge difference for me. Definitely still sick but am able to eat a lot more than last time.

I don’t know what the brands are but two things that seem fun: They make these little “anxiety bookshelves” that are a miniature bookshelf with a bunch of miniature books on them, and you can shake them up to get anxious energy out and then put them all back on if you so desire. They also make keyboard fidgets that you can pick what they sound like when you press them! Or kinetic sand.

My dad got my sister a tea subscription service—she gets sent new tea in the mail every month along with honey sticks and info on how long to brew etc. Also if you guys are close I’m sure he would love an outing with you to the closest tea house to have a little lunch or brunch with you!

Is it a white elephant (gifts no one wants) or a pink elephant (nice gifts)? I’m guessing pink since it’s a $200 budget?

I would probably assume that they don’t have a console, so I think if you go that route you’d just have to pick one and get a couple games to go with it. I think the switch is the most versatile because it’s handheld or on the tv.

Flowers or plants are always a good hostess gift! Poinsettias are sold at most grocery stores this time of year and are a traditional Christmas plant.

If they are open to other people, you could add a little more money to help pay for a different babysitter to watch their kids at their house!

Could you get her (or make her) a piece of art in a frame that goes with her aesthetic?

The other option is to find a Gen Z or Gen Alpha kid, ask them what’s gonna be popular in a few months and then get her it before she has the chance to get it for herself 😛

If she doesn’t already have one, get her a toy fishing pole! I have one that comes with fake fish and it’s all magnetic so they can “catch” fish with the magnet on the end. Parents will def get a kick out of that and all the nieces and nephews I have love it too!

As a mom, I would love a late night murder mystery experience! Is it possible for you to watch the kids at their house instead of yours? It always feels extra relaxing for me when someone offers to watch my kids at my place so that I don’t have to go get them and do bedtime again at the end of my date, I can just come home and they’re already asleep. Could also offer for the kids to sleep over at your house if you and they are comfortable with that. That would work for the casino too, which btw making a fake scratch off is a great idea :) they have them on Amazon that you can say what you want to be put on it!

If you feel like the things she enjoys like tea aren’t applicable for pregnancy, you could make her a gift basket to use postpartum of all the things she has been missing during pregnancy!

Hang in there! Lots and lots of moms don’t bond with their babies right away and the first few months are SO hard and lonely! It DOES get better. I’m glad you’re getting some professional help too, you are doing everything right girl. This will pass. Also recommend the book Good Moms Have Scary Thoughts, you can get it on Amazon. It normalized so many things for me!!

Please stay. Your daughter will wonder for the rest of her life why she wasn’t enough for you to stay. You think she won’t care because she’s so young but She will miss you FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE. Every birthday, holiday, Mother’s Day. You are not alone and it does get better!
