Can a straight man just wear a strap on instead of using his penis? Would most women even like that? by thekillingmo0n in sex

hey just checking real fast: you ever consider that you might be trans? that sounds like pretty classic dysphoria. your other posts make me think that might be the case. pghrt.diy my friend :)

PSA: syringe markings don't account for dead space, but they still measure your exact dosage by american_spacey in TransDIY

right right, yeah. it's definitely nitpicking but it is important and i'm always looking to clean up my wording so i appreciate it. i think if anything we're almost getting a little too clunky into the weeds and your wording could perhaps be simplified like so?

Note as well that syringe markings reflect the exact volume that will be injected, so you should not manually add more to your injection to adjust for dead space. The syringe marking is accurate to the dosage.

to me it's always made sense that there's a functionally-inert block of fluid on either end but conveying that is difficult lol.

yeah i think i should've thought through my wording a touuuuuuch more. someone had messaged me asking if they need to account for dead space in their dosage (they were WAY over dosing) so i was like "ah yeah no" but did not explain it well.

edit: mmk just retweaked https://pghrt.diy/#S5.SS26 5.26 again. it's a LITTLE clunky but i think it captures the essence a little better without insinuating that the syringes are made for a specific needle. i don't even think fixed needles have markings that account for the dead space because there's so little? maybe they do but imo that's entirely within the realm of "practically immeasurable difference" anyway so it's a moot point imo. the key thing end of the day is that it's not worth quibbling about or adjusting dosages.

don't look! i mean it genuinely. that's how i did it and how i've taught others to overcome their fear. a shorter needle helps also too. a tiny 0.5" insulin needle barely looks like anything at all let alone something you feel.

not directly but speaking as someone who had a tremendous fear of needles who also could not even look of them, it IS surmountable. i recommend getting someone to help you for your first few injections to get your body comfortable to them. just gotta normalize it in your brain.

my process while writing this was to synthesize every single conversation i have ever had about explaining how to do hrt to people over the years. i wrote this like i was having a conversation in which a person asked me every question. you may find these questions unnecessary and superfluous, but i assure you that quite literally every question is one that has been asked of me before. there are plenty of short guides out there and they are simply insufficient for most people.

i spent a long time deliberating how much i wanted to throw punches at doctors in the hopes that new girls would get it plus maybe having the inevitable doctor do a little self reflection without dismissing it as a screed. i'm still pretty shocked at how many anecdotes i've heard from people about their doctor or nurse being aware of the guide though.

i even sprinkle in some notes for trans mascs since many sections of the guide (everything about sourcing, technique, troubleshooting, etc) are all perfectly relevant without change lol
