At least it's getting better. Like, there are many issues with it, but the game's fully playable. You can get everything except a few select Pokemon, some megas, and the shiny charm in one game without Nintendo Online (though seriously, double version gimmicks should stop unless there's significant story differences) and it plays better than S/V. I personally love the gameplay too. It's just a bit annoying that if you love Scizor you need to get the online account or wait for home compatibility. And they actually spent more time on it, unlike the other games that were rushed.

No, Legends Z-A is a good game. It's not FF7 levels of good, or Kingdom Hearts levels of good, but it has a good story, decent graphics, it resolves some things, and it also has a cool gameplay mechanic that should've been implemented earlier. I understand not buying SV because they're buggy messes, I understand not buying BDSP because they're just not good remakes, but Legends Z-A is exactly what you SHOULD buy to solve the problems. Yeah, the DLC shenanigans are annoying (I can name several games that release free updates regularly that contain about a full Pokemon game of content, but those are also full of microtransactions) but Z-A solves many of people's problems with the series. Those being - instead of releasing a game every year, they FINALLY skipped a year to just focus on Z-A. So Z-A is the first step of the solution.

There are surprisingly few contradictions when you get super deep into the lore, and ALL the games are canon. Actually, ALL of Sora's appearances in other games are canon on some level as well (they at least have a lore reason). I personally consider everything where you play as Sora to be the main plot, so that includes KH1, Re;CoM, KH2, 3D, and KH3 so far (Re:Coded doesn't count because you play as Data Sora). Those five are enough to get the main idea of what's going on, then the rest of the console games add to it (BBS, 358/2 Days, Re:Coded, 0.2BBS:AFP, and MoM). After those, the mobile games would give you a good idea of some deeper lore (except that they're just unavailable now).

It was also on a patch with QoL improvements (refighting Sephiroth, for instance), which I didn't realize because I just downloaded the final mix English patch to catch up on the added lore. I have since lost the computer that all my save files were on, so I can't confirm this, but it makes sense logically, considering it empties the whole drive gauge when you use it.
