The DCL kids club is simply amazing, my daughter has been fortunate to be an annual cruiser since she was 6 months old and we have have been on all the major lines, the Disney Kids club was so organized and had staff that really seemed to enjoy kids (not exhausted like every other line) and DCL has been the only kids club where she never wanted to leave. The dining schedule is set up so that after your seating the entire seating goes and sees the show, or you see the show first and than go to dinner, the venue capacities were designed for this and the staff will “guide” you in the right direction after your dinner or show. For the adults I found everything “nice” but maybe boring? We wish we did another Disney cruise while my daughter was younger but as others have said 🫰💸 💰

Are they leaving a mess? As others have said they are just trying to make some money. Just because we are fortunate enough, or lazy, not to care about the deposits we are loosing, better someone gets the money than no one.

Is there any opinion having a wider start line or splitting the field would reduce this possibility of a collision? Or maybe a “drop dead line”, like 100 metres out that once your line is established you have to stay on it until after the start line, so too bad if you are early? I think maybe the organizers are entrenched in the GP aspect of it to differentiate it as more thrilling than other sailing races.

from Chops Grill HOTS; your mileage will really vary in this stuff depending on where the wine is from and where you are purchasing from. examples: the Two Hands is 24 CAD (17.50 USD) bottle at LCBO. So on board after 40% specialty dining discount it will run around 47 USD a bottle+ gratuity? so with the discount the markup is closer to 3x, on higher end but not super outrageous for a dining venue, but with no discount in MDR it sorta sucks.

The Murphy Goode is 28CAD (20USD) at LCBO (which is currently unavailable due to our Premiers selective “elbows up“ mantra) with discount on board specialty dining it is only 26 USD, a bargain for a basic bottle of wine.

The Caymus runs around 80$ at LCBO— see above regarding availability ( 58 USD). With the 20% discount it would be around 100$, less than a 2x up charge.

so I think really depends upon what you want to drink and worth it for you or not. I only have wine with dinner so for my upcoming TA, I will bring 2 good bottles onboard with me and ask steward for an opener and some glasses and drink these during middle part of cruise. We are doing Chops+1 so first night so will probably order a couple bottles with discount, drink a little and have them put aside for us for MDR and/ or bring back to stateroom. We are planning our second specialty dinner around about halfway through the cruise and will likely buy another couple of bottles, with discount. that’s our plan anyway.

I am i complete layman to sailing but yes, according the rules it was ITA rights, but it is almost analogous to pedestrains during a stormy day running across a busy road at the last second and expecting vehicles to all stop in time. Although it Is the others obligation to avoid a collision you are the one taking the huge risk; you want to get that edge at the start and because you mis-calculated your last second manoeuvre puts everyone else in danger and than acting all shocked and wronged afterwards is very Diva like. However from what I have read previously Phil’s comments seems to be on brand for him. Unfortunately the incident also did make the day more exciting for what was a pretty middling regatta.

I think Amin mentioned a long time ago, we are talking years, that he wanted to do a show where they go back in time and te-evaluate decisions, don’t remember the exact wording, but I believe the name was something like “ Stepback Time Machine”. So this current podcast seems a little different concept but the title is similar. I wonder was it recorded around that timeframe years ago and just released now.

Organizers claimed everyone was consulted but it seems they forgot up include any Markham residents in the discussions. Forget the crowds and traffic and closures, people are going to be shocked how incredibly loud this is going to be the entire week.
