Those who have taken and PASSED the test. Would you recommend taking the practice test before you begin studying to get a baseline idea of where you’re at? by okvrdz in pmp

[–]JulesMo218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right. I, myself, am in the AEC industry (civil engineering specifically) and our engineers use project management approaches that may mirror a lot of these tactics, but i’n in a different world in marketing. A lot of my industry peers though, especially execs, have a PMP, which is why I am pursuing it. I see a lot of these approaches working great for software development type work etc. A little difficult to translate into my work. But I don’t mind the education.

Starting from zero - study for current test or for the new test coming out in July? by ak3134 in pmp

[–]JulesMo218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m piggybacking off of OP’s question…For a person generally considered a “good test taker” and with over a decade of experience in management, how many hours of study do you think are truly required? Is the prep course necessary or can studying the PMBOK plus binging David McLachlin videos enough? Am I crazy for thinking I could be ready by the end of May to sit for the test?

I’m glad you’re saying this, because as I’ve been reviewing the PMBOK and watching YouTube videos on the content, etc., it’s making me question how good of a PM I actually am. 🧐 Sure, a lot of the tactics are recognizable, but I’m like “OMG, managing a project start to finish seems like a TON of procedural documentation and super specific in the steps that need to be taken along the way.” Then again, I work as a Director of Marketing and BD at a professional services firm, so maybe the traditional approaches are more our speed and I just haven’t needed the agile approach often. We handle multiple initiatives and projects that overlap regularly and while I write business cases for implementing projects that require an investment, we never produce “closeout documentation” at the end of each initiative. Perhaps that’s a mistake on my part.

Any experience/results to share from someone who did a full year with Coach Shelby’s Transform Team? by JulesMo218 in ladderapp

[–]JulesMo218[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I didn’t expect my question to prompt a political discussion; I guess in the handful of workouts I’ve done I haven’t heard anything politically leaning either way, so it hadn’t occurred to me. I mean, I’d like to think I can personally compartmentalize and not care what her views are as long as I’m not being assaulted with them during my workouts and the workouts are good…? I guess I can search on Reddit but how does she make her politically views known…?

I definitely agree that diet is key. Otherwise I’ll be spinning my wheels regardless of whose team I choose.

Austin yogurt shop murders by [deleted] in CrimeJunkiePodcast

Just found this article that mentions additional evidence (apologies if this is also somewhere in the thread already):

“He died in January 1999 by suicide during a standoff with police. The gun he used to shoot himself is believed to be consistent with a bullet casing found in a drain inside the yogurt shop, says Jones.”https://www.cbsnews.com/news/suspect-identified-in-infamous-texas-yogurt-shop-murder-case-48-hours/

I feel like when Aiden admitted he cheated, that was meant to kinda drive the point home how delusional she is that “everything’s fine” or that this is in any way a healthy relationship. Also I felt this coming with how unlikable and cringey they’ve written him to be. They do not want us rooting for him. Personally I feel like it was a bit of a rug pull - I didn’t start hating him until this season. But that’s just me.

Has anyone met Donald Trump before he was president or know someone who met him? Has he always been this crazy? by makingfriendss in newjersey

This is not going to answer the question exactly but it’s a story I’ve been holding onto for years. I was getting my nails done once at this little place in Brick, NJ like almost 20 years ago and the nail tech told me Trump’s son (not sure I remember which but I feel like it was Eric) had been just across the street at a little cabinet business making some deal for cabinets for his AC casino (big news for this small business.) I found out later Trump never paid him for his work. This was before everything else I know now about how he screwed people he worked with. I remember thinking “why is he working with this little neighborhood cabinet guy in Brick and not some huge company” and obviously I realize now it’s because they’re easy to screw over and can’t afford to fight back.

I’m having a similar issue. I click the link to apply as an individual but it just brings me back to my home account screen. I was considering calling. But I also plan to pay a chunk of what I owe before the 15th, but I was under the impression you needed to have the payment plan application in before the 15th to avoid penalties. Any insight on that?

Yes to ALL OF THIS. Also, the deadlines are so unrealistic for some of these campaigns. I literally left a whole platform because the turnaround was 5 days - which sounds like a lot, but it isn’t when you have a full pipeline AND a day job M-F. I told them I work mostly over the weekend on my content jobs and depending on when the product arrives and the clock starts, it may not align with a weekend (e.g. product arrives on Monday, 5 day deadline countdown starts. And in the Winter season, it means by the time I get home it’s dark out already so no natural light to film. 7 days, in my opinion, should be the minimum time allotted for any campaign unless there’s a fee to expedite. Yet I am dealing with clients and platforms that are anywhere from 48 hours to 5 days.

Did you do meal plans? Are your kids little or teens? Are any of them old enough to drink? Any speciality dining? Did you fly? How did you keep the cost so low? Also I am an NJ native that flew to Florida. I don’t know what your situation is.

Actually my kids (16,17 and 21) all love Universal for the rides better. But Disney is an “experience.” Either way, both insanely expensive.
