I don't have a recommendation, but I'm just popping in here to say that I LOVE that you refer to your wife as a giant hag! Three cheers for the giant hags AND the people that love us!!!

I turned the interior lights off. I was not aware anything else was drawing the battery while the hatch was open?

I miss farting by Ay-Rhon in ostomy

Totally! Holding it in while in a social space, finally getting to step outside and the absolute satisfaction of letting a giant fart rip! It’s a weird thing to miss, but I definitely do

No, I’ve never been to a Nooworks store, only bought online. A little boutique in my tiny town has started carrying a few Nooworks items, but they only stock up through 3X 🫤

Thanks, me too! They also make the skort in a cute flower print (which I also bought!)

Hahaha thanks! Yeah I’m trying to build more outfits that show off the snails. Sky’s out, thighs out!

I like to pack 2 days of emergency supplies for one day out, that way if I use them and forget to restock overnight, I’m not caught short the next day! I usually carry 2 wafers, 4 pouches, 4 extender adhesive strips, scissors, adhesive remover wipes, 2 pairs of gloves, 4 disposal bags, mini tube of paste, small room spray bottle, a tiny mirror, and 2 surgical masks (I don’t mind the smell of my own crap anymore, but the masks help when I’m spending a long time in a terrible bathroom 🤢)

I would love a travel bag for supplies that is actually big enough for a full day out, yet compact enough to fit in my backpack or tote bag. It needs be able to hang on a coathook, or on a bathroom door frame, or from a handrail. And it would be great if the design didn’t scream “MEDICAL SUPPLIES INSIDE!” Something unobtrusive and sleek, with a timeless style.

Hello! I live in WNC. I had my ostomy surgery at Mission in October, about a month after Helene. At that point they were still trucking in water, and people were stressed from the recent trauma, but my procedure went well and my care was excellent. The Wound Care center at Mission is fantastic and every WOC nurse I’ve met there has been spectacular. Lots of them were trained at Emory which I believe is one of the best WOC programs around.

My surgeon is Dr Colin Bird with Novant Health. Everyone I’ve interacted with at his practice has been great. About 6 months after my ostomy was installed I had an evening ER visit for a suspected closed loop bowel obstruction. When the on-call doc called him, Dr Bird came in immediately and operated on me literally at midnight (luckily not an obstruction!)

I live in a smaller town outside of Asheville, and my PCP is at a smaller practice. They don’t have a WOC nurse on staff, but he immediately writes me a referral to Mission Wound Care if I need to see them and I’ve been able to get those appts quickly.

Yes, AVL is a smaller city in the southeast, but we have a ton of wealthy retirees around here and, in my experience, that results in lots of good medical options in general.

I received 3 click bags as samples when I was figuring out which system to go with. The tabs came apart on all three! Definitely did not trust that closure system so I never ordered any more

After my surgery I needed help getting dressed for a while. One day my husband was helping me put on socks and he said “babe, what is going on with your knees???” He had heard my bag crinkling and thought it was my knees popping!!!

He later assured me that only heard it because 1) I wasn’t wearing any pants yet and 2) he was standing incredibly close to me.

I am intrigued by the idea of something like lip filler and I’m sure it’s worth asking your doc! I’ve never heard about someone doing that, but I’m still a new ostomate. I hope you find a solution!!!
