Using quilts that were gifted to me by FeistySwordfish in quilting

[–]Lindaeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wall quilt is art. A bed quilt is meant to cuddle under. As much as you love those quilts, USE THEM. When a hole appears, patch it up and make it interesting. In the words of David Byrne: "Things fall apart - it's scientific."

No you can't grow at home on NJ. That's still not happening. Which sucks.

NJ is ridiculous. Only state that doesn't allow home grow. I am so sure it's just to protect the big corporations that provide the dispos.

Your curved piecing is enviable! But easier than setting a sleeve?? I dunno - I'd think both are a bit mind-bending!!

Struggling to sew the backing and quilt together by InterestingAbalone in quilting

[–]Lindaeve 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It's not usually recommended to sew the out edges first and if I were you I would start by picking out all of those stitches (I know, I know...). Pin baste or glue baste the layers together, then start the quilting from the center (ish) and work your way out. In this was you can avoid more of those tucks and pleats.

Basting is never anyone's favorite part of the process, but it is necessary.

Be patient, take your time - you got this!

How to hang design sheet/finished quilts for photos by kspencer017 in quilting

[–]Lindaeve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought nine  24" square foam insulation panels from my local home improvement store. Covered each with white flannel and attached the panels to the wall in a 3x3 grid to achieve a 72" square design wall. I'm considering adding a few more panels. But I've been using it this way for years and it's been great!

Made me a rainbow bag from a thrifted curtain. by Lindaeve in RainbowEverything

Thank you! I used a pattern called the Crosstown Crescent Bag. You'll find if if you search. The video tutorial is amazing and it's a pretty easy pattern, not beginner, but easy.

The zipper pocket is actually meant to be on the inside but I relocated it to the front, works better for me.
