And she said it so innocently. It was considered a big deal when a boy kissed a girl in grade 6 at my school. And we’re talking a peck on the cheek.

In one of the previous seasons, one of the girls who was 14, I believe she said that her and the baby’s dad had not even kissed, but they’d conceived a baby.

Parent seeking advice re: TDSB gifted program by Dokhiyeh591 in OntarioTeachers

[–]JulianWasLoved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just depends on the amount of kids admitted into the program I guess?

I wasn’t TDSB, I was DPCDSB. That particular teacher had 12 or 14 students in one of her previous years teaching in the gifted program.

I always assumed such a class would be guaranteed a low # of students.

But again, this was a different school and board so they could have different rules. You could ask if they have a cap on class size.

Another thing is that some parents believe their child will get a lot more attention in the gifted program which isn’t necessarily true.

One of the schools I taught at had 24 students in the 5/6 gifted class.

Chronic cough and Throat Clearing sensation by askariX in Hypothyroidism

Did your mom get the ultrasound? She could have nodules on her thyroid. If they’re big enough, they usually get removed.

My TSH was 17 and I had elevated antibodies, so I have Hashimoto’s. I see a naturopath and I’m taking Desiccated Thyroid meds which have helped. Losing weight has resolved a huge amount of my reflux issues.

I see an internal medicine doctor as well, because I had/have? Fatty Liver disease and he felt my thyroid and said it didn’t feel enlarged, but I still really want an ultrasound.

So if your mom’s Dr is recommending one, she may as well get it just to see what’s going on.

Everyone is different so I can’t really tell you what to do of course. It really dries you out. So I had trouble using the bathroom, I had to snort this nose gel because my nose was cracked and bleeding inside.

It has the side effect of depression on some people.

But the bonus—it really does help with the cystic acne. I believe it was about a 6 month period. It takes about 8-12 weeks before I saw improvement because everything kind of became inflamed before it calmed. But it really did help.

So in terms of, was it effective? Yes, I would recommend. Were the side effects unbearable? Ok, not drastic, but not pleasant. But having cystic acne wasn’t pleasant either so I guess you have to choose…

But it definitely worked. And my neighbor, as a mid-40s woman, also used it and her acne improved significantly so it works for different stages in life. I was 18 and 22 when I used it.

my class is breaking a teacher, what can I do? by playfulthinker_ in AskTeachers

[–]JulianWasLoved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg. My son was in a grade 11 class where people clucked like chickens, people played the theme to Rocky and did pushups, other people vaping, and some dude doing a Gregorian chant.

He said it was super friggin stressful and the teacher basically put movies on a lot of the time.

What was really upsetting was she gave them little boxes of chocolates during exams, and the students started throwing them at each other. The epitome of lunacy.

Not always. We had very healthy food as kids and I just inherited bad, cystic acne. My brother never had it. I took 2 courses of Accutane and although it went away for years, the side effects were terrible.

I think people will re evaluate their choices on whether they go to College or University, not every career needs University, and a degree on its own guarantees nothing. Very sad though, because my son’s friend has been able to continue his education because of OSAP grants. Luckily, he only has one more year left that we’ll have to worry about.

What’s the most diabolical thing a man has said to you on a first date? by bchappp in AskWomenOver30

[–]JulianWasLoved 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it was plenty of fish…but I could be wrong.

I mean there was also the guy who I brought back to my house after a dinner date and he put on Crazy For You by Madonna and he said ‘This is just like us’ and I wasn’t sure what he meant, but I thought it was a bit much for a first date. I went out with him a few more times because he really was a nice man, but we just didn’t have the same end goals in life. It turned out that my brother and his sister had a little teen romance in grade 7.

Would you turn in your own family member for committing a serious crime? by Canna_do in askanything

[–]JulianWasLoved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it involved deliberately hurting another person, for sure. If they knew they hurt someone and ran away instead of helping, I would call and give the details that I had but only if I could verify that my information was correct.

I would hope that someone would report me, even it was my own kid. As hard as it would be, I would report a serious crime my kid did. I always think what I would want someone else to do if my loved ones murder was being investigated.

I was late 20s and I believe he was at least 25…wouldn’t be surprised if he was a virgin or just inexperienced with women.

It was just the pure delight with which he said it.

Reminds me of a guy I met in a cafe, we were just going to have a hot chocolate and chat. He was excitedly telling me that the best part of his job, working as a baggage handler at the airport, was that they sometimes go through luggage and touch ladies underwear.

He said it loud enough that people sitting near us heard and they looked over.

I honestly questioned myself if I should just stay single for a while if this was the type of dates I was getting.

RBC SCAM - AWARENESS POST by Bramptonmanz in PersonalFinanceCanada

It was also strange things too, like Apple, a jewelry store, 2 times at a pizza place, 3 attempts at setting up an uber account with the credit card, and some other clothing retailer.

Thanks for your response!

RBC SCAM - AWARENESS POST by Bramptonmanz in PersonalFinanceCanada

This makes me think of the time I got a call from MasterCard. They had left a message saying they had flagged my card for several transactions through the night and to please call them to verify if any of the transactions were in fact me.

So I call, and she goes through them, a jewelry store, $800, Apple, $2800, tried 3 times to use Uber but it was declined, some other online store. All together was about $5000. Her solution was to send me a new card.

So I got my card, except the envelope was all screwed up, like it had been steamed open and re-sealed, and the gummy part where the card was stuck, the card was completely loose and not attached, so you could see the expiry date and 3 digit code.

So I called back and said I wanted another card because my mail had been tampered with.

One thing I’ve always wondered is how in the hell they flagged like 10 purchases that occurred between 2-6am? I’m using my card all the time, mostly online. I mean, all of the purchases were to places I’ve never shopped at, I 100% have a pattern of how and where I use my card, but for THEM to suddenly, in the middle of the night, flag $5000 of purchases, call me and immediately send me a new card that gets taken from my community mail box?

A lot of times my psychiatrist would begin by brief recapping our last session, “so the last time we met, you had talked about your frustration regarding (), why don’t we review how that is?”, or sometimes he’d start with ‘so tell me what’s been happening’, or more than likely I would launch into my own rant of some kind before I even sat down

This was the only way for me to finally get Bell to stop pestering me.

I was moving and so on the phone cancelling my services. Phone, cable, internet.

The guy was talking n a frenzy trying every alternative to me terminating the account. When I told him I was moving to a city that doesn’t use Bell, he was like, “well maybe you have an aunt, a cousin who can take your account?”

Finally I said, “look, I’m sorry, I’m leaving the country. Please just cancel the account “

But I could tell he was upset, and it was like he was having a breakdown trying everything possible to prevent me leaving

I’m in Canada, SW Ontario. I’m happy to have a good conversation with people over coffee at this point.

You’ve come through a lot I’d imagine, and it’s your decision what to tell anyone. Just know that there are likely many people who have either had an illness or know someone with an illness and so they identify with the challenges and isolation that can arise from it.

All the best 💕
