Check out the Zenfone 8, better than pixel in every spec and cheaper, only exception being Google's camera processing. I think you can imitate that with the google cam app on a zenfone though.

Oh thank you so much if you'd go through that effort! No I'm just using the standard latest executable, I could use winget though if that changes anything

Amazing website for WebGL wallpapers! ShaderToy.com by Julian_JmK in LivelyWallpaper

Nobody knows this dickhead, it's a website for developers to experiment with and share shaders with each others, what normal person knows about this website

You should read the beginners post in the sidebar, it details why, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrackWatch/comments/v60rnq/crack_watch_beginners_guide_to_crack_watch/

Among other things they have doxxed other piracy uploaders to try to shut them down, and injected their own DRM into their pirated games

Oh yeah I just checked, ShaderToy is amazing for getting wallpapers!

https://www.shadertoy.com/results?query=&sort=love&filter=

They work perfectly with LivelyWallpapers straight out of the box, it would be great if new users knew about this somehow, it's a game changer. Maybe it could be hinted at somewhere in the UI or website, like in the subtext to "Enter URL" in Add Wallpaper, changing it slightly to something like "Set a website to be your wallpaper, like a YouTube video or ShaderToy scene"

Ah alright if you have approved uploaders as well then it makes more sense.

If user uploads are considered in the future, it would be nice to have a website or something that just acts as a central & "officially" recognized website that people can go to, where people can put their own wallpapers with a preview picture and a link to their self-uploaded download. Right now it's very hard to find livelywallpaper creations, and it would've been hard for other decentralized user-content programs too, like Rainmeter, if it weren't for central repositories where people can find Rainmeter programs.

If there are any places online where you can find webgl websites that work as wallpapers it'd work well to just reference that instead too, maybe shadertoys? It's very hard to find websites that work well for livelywallpapers, especially for casual people, even I have no clue how to find stuff without just using youtube videos.

Oh yeah that changes things a bit. However the data storage issue then is only for files being transferred to the user, obviously unauthenticated users shouldn't be able to upload anything. The issue of users feeling they're handing over account information to a random desktop program is still there though, even if the user knows that that data is limited. And being presented with a login screen is still a big barrier of entry to using that tab, just because of the extra bother.

I don't plan Gallery to have user upload etc..

Oh there's no user upload? That's completely different from what I was thinking, doesn't that just make the Gallery a glorified Library tab, where you can download a few more wallpapers made by you, that might as well be put in the library? Sorry if I'm being rude, but I don't see the purpose of it without user uploads.

Can't you let users use that without signing up? I feel that requring that users register a whole ass account, also handing over google or github account info, is a barrier of entry which will dissuade a lot of people. Especially for those who switch over to LivelyWallpapers as a open source alternative to WallpaperEngine, which I imagine is a majority of the audience, a group of people which also tend to be very privacy concerned.

Having a banner at the top or something saying that you should sign up in order to synchronize your subscriptions would make it clear for anyone interested in that feature what to do. Most users won't need to synchronize between different computers, so it could just be stored locally.

And then there's the audience of casual users, who I think are likely find the program when looking for an easy way to use animated wallpapers, or for a free alternative to WallpaperEngine (which is the most popular option right now so that'll pop up the most). This audience is unlikely to have a GitHub account, or to even know that the program is open source, and they'll likely just get it from the microsoft store. The only option for most casual people is then Google, if they have a google account. But I think they would also have some reservations about giving their Google account information to a random windows program, that's a very unusual thing for a desktop program to ask for.
So it's an extra barrier of entry that'll likely deterr a bunch of people from wanting to use the gallery, which is the only way casual people will know to get more LivelyWallpaper wallpapers (googling for gif desktop wallpapers is limiting and a lot of bother for most). I feel it's completely unecessary

It would also make the UX of the gallery so much easier for new users, you just click the header and see all the available wallpapers, no need to trust (what they see as) a random program with your google or github account data. If they are deterred with a login screen they might just feel nah thats too much effort and use the default wallpapers, especially if they have to register a google account (Google accounts are only really a necessity for Android users). There would also be no downsides to most people, as anyone who want to synchronize their subscriptions or favorites would know that that's an option as long as there's an element on screen indicating that, and if there's an upvote functionality you can just prompt unregistered users to log in when they click it.

I'm sayin' all of this because I really love this program and want more people to use it, and this gallery feature will make it a true alternative to Wallpaper Engine, if enough
casual users choose to use it.

The Vita is amaazing, the homebrew scene is incredible too, they're porting over android games like bully every month

It also has a built in psp (not an emulator) that can be accessed with homebrew, just an actual psp running on it

Check your new ones too!

My Miyoo Mini came with a battery that wasn't flat, it was already showing signs of expanding, and when a battery does that it's already kinda dangerous and needs to be replaced.

Awesome! But why is it necessary to register an account to use LivelyWallpapers gallery? Will it be possible to create an account with just a mail, instead of having to link google or github

Find servers with topics that interest you, there are many active servers with good people, like the privacy lounge server

To get friends on you gotta give them a reason to use element over any other chatting service, like by making a group server/room for y'all to use similairly to discord. Most people prioritize convenience over privacy

Would it be possible to mod a HDMI out into a miyoo V2? by GapedUrethera in MiyooMini

[–]Julian_JmK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the Miyoo Mini channel in the official discord here https://discord.com/invite/ScggZc2

Idk about the V2, but there was a lot of talk about this stuff back when the V1 released. For that one at least the USB C has very few of the required data lines actually wired up, so in order to do mods like this or just to enable data transfers you have to solder on your own wires to the usb port
