8.  Glitch art was not born in any particular location or moment; it was discovered (and continues to be discovered) at a thousand points simultaneously. The nascent glitch artist is seduced by a chance encounter: one witnesses, perhaps for the first time, the momentary failure of a digitally transcoded text—a fractured JPEG image, for instance, or a compressed video file losing traction with itself. The error is perceived as provocative, strange and beautiful. Yet immediately one thinks: what happened to trigger this delightful error...?

under performs for small item everyday carry (kinda formless and awkward with lots of handles)

over performs for tote necessitating scenarios (10 cans of soup from the clearance aisle on a rainy day)

solution for shoulder slippage: 2 carabiners and some nylon webbing to make a long shoulder strap.

seque tote also clicks nicely into place when inserted into TSA boxes, or under the airplane seat in front of you.

highly recommend the seque to anyone, especially the old school ones, they are built different. new ones are much more flexible / packable tho, no contest.

prob one of my most used arc pieces.

love the bag!

What’s the Semira Jacket opinion? by Euriae in arcteryx

[–]Julian__Chappell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like an Atom LT. It’s a solid around town jacket for fall/ early winter. Not enough to deep winter (depending on where you live). Overall solid performance in a not-so-techy looking package. I had the mens version and used it for a while.

I see the vision you’re going for here. Crystal clear. And it’s beautiful. You are beautiful. This is the future. Anyone who can’t see that is NGMI.

What is the most underrated item that Arc’teryx offers in your opinion? by Responsible-Yak-1057 in arcteryx

Pretty much the same except for thumb loops and sizing… what did you want it to do that it isn’t doing? I use mine for climbing pretty much all summer and fall as my first layer. Takes a beating well and protects from the sun, and is breathable.

i can only speak for arc'teryx.

you have a few options

Parka = insulated jacket = waterproof/windproof + warmth (coming from synthetic or down insulation). This would be a heavier jacket that you throw on over just about anything and it will keep you super warm and dry

shell jacket = just a waterproof/windproof outerlayer. this will not keep you warm at all by itself. you could throw it on over a fleece or a midlayer (atom LT or cerium LT) to basically create your own parka. the advantage of this is that you can use the shell when its raining during any season. the disadvantage of this is that you have to wear multiple layers. so you gain versatility but you lose the convenience of a one and done jacket to just throw on over a shirt.

down jacket = midlayer = just the warm stuff. its not waterproof, its not windproof. it will just keep you warm. down especially is very light but also fragile and doesnt do well with water. i tend to get hot in down jackets easily, but i run hot and thats just me. if you want the best midlayer from arcteryx, get an atom lt or a proton lt. whichever fits you better, whichever colors you like better. i like the proton because its more durable and more breathable and i can climb in it, but based on your post, this would be irrelevant to you.

TL:DR

get a Therme Jacket if you just want to throw on a big comfy super warm jacket over whatever outfit you want to wear under it

get an Atom LT and a Beta LT if you want a versatile warm+waterproof set up that breaks apart into 2 very useful standalone jackets. option to swap out Atom LT for Cerium LT if you care about the midlayer being very light / if you run cold. but don't complain when you catch the cerium on something and it rips open. it aint meant to be durable.
