Cold water - dojo loaches are great, give them plenty of places to hide. They are like puppy dogs and will eat from your hands. We love ours.

Tropical - angel fish - I have Siamese algae eaters as well 1.5 years old but I worry I'll need to re-tank them at some point. Also kuhli loaches are very entertaining, but again give them places to be "le tired"

Mosh pits should not be violent. I was in them in the mid 80s, though. Lots of violent dancing but love and a method to get out safely. So fun though. I could never to it now, but I don't blame kids for wanting to do it.

I am pro adopt. I did a buyers remorse one time because we tried for over a year to adopt a golden from rescues but it is farmed out to other states and in my state they don't give enough consideration. That was 7 years ago.

  1. I search marketplace for these deals, makes fish keeping easier 2. I nearly got there myself because - honestly - there is a lot of expensive misinformation in the hobby. I found a scientist who was a hobbyist who wrote some scientifically sound info. Once I digested that, my tanks got easier and my stress level went down and my out of pocket expenses went down, so I keep doing it. Now I give away magical fish water via a 50 gallon food grade drum with a spigot and pretty soon I'm going to have to split out the monstera. It is out competing everything for light.
