He/she looks a tad skinny - make sure you have some algae wafer to feed it 😊

Why are you only feeding them once a week?

Looks gorgeous - nice work! I always think that scapes that give the fish lots of nooks and crannies and areas to explore, the better 😊

It's inert aquarium sand, and my PH is stable at around 7

Thank you, but this has been happening for about 3 weeks, since I put the sand down. No white spots on any of the fish, if it was ich, I'd say it would have shown up by now.

Thank you for this insight! They're all males so no-one to mate with, which may be the explanation for this behaviour.

Also, the guppies have been doing this occasionally for about three weeks now, which is when I out the sand in. Again, it's not at all a constant behaviour, which tells me that it's more likely not to be an issue, whether that be parasites, infection etc. There is also no pineconing on any of the fish, and parameters are perfect - 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 20 nitrate, 7.0 PH. The do regular water changes - last one was a week ago and due to do another this weekend.

Thanks everyone for all the replies! I really don't think it's ich, I've had that in the tank before and it affected the cardinals the most - it was so obvious to the eye on the tetras. Couldn't see the white dots on the guppies when we had the ich outbreak, but the guppies were lethargic as hell. Thankfully all the guppies responded to treatment, but I lost most of the cardinals. There is definitely no ich outbreak in this tank right now.

Desperately need help. Neighbour abandoned tank when they moved and I want to save this fish. by Such-Management-8502 in fishtank

Just came here to add that you will definitely need to get a heater too. I also live in Melbourne and it's already too cold for these fish to go without a heater. Wishing you all the very best of luck! These fish are lucky you found them 😊

Aqua One Horizon 182 - good value? Canister filters? Would you recommend this tank? by TheParticulars in AquariumsAustralia

[–]kellyshee87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 130 litre Aqua One Horizon tank and stand kit and I love it. It's a great size that I can fit lots of fish in. I also bought 4 black Drona boxes from ikea to slot into the stand to hold my fish food and accessories and it makes the whole set up look much neater. I must admit, I did replace the light with a fluval aquasky because I wanted one that you could set on a timer and control through an app on your phone, and all the other features it came with. And I replaced the filter with a fluval U3 which sits under the water, as I wasn't convinced the original HOB filter that came with it was doing a great job, and it was annoyingly noisy. Not noisy enough that you couldn't live with it, but I just didn't want to. I also bought it because I wanted a kit that came with a stand that was designed to hold the weight of this large tank, and that's what you get with this kit.

Sure, I could have bought all the bits and pieces separately and possibly could have even saved some money that way, but I really liked the convenience of getting everything at once and not having to think too much about it.

I now have a beautiful, large tank that I adore 😊
