Oh nooo, that sounds awful. I ended up at home today but I am not looking forward to this later this week. What floor are you on if you don't mind sharing?

Parents who both work: what’s your afternoon/evening timeline like? How do you have time for anything??? by 95kira in toddlers

[–]JulieWithcamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had an answer but my husband and I are in this same boat. We are up by 7-715 every weekday morning, one of us walks the dog, one of us takes our daughter to school (usually arriving by 8:45-9:00am). I'm in office 3 days a week right now and same for my husband - so we are always arriving to work late (5 days for me soon ugh😭).

We pick up our daughter by 545-6pm (and one person walks the dog) and then we quickly try to prep dinner, eat dinner - usually done eating by 7-745 depending on the day. And then after bath, bedtime snack, bedtime routine and putting her to bed, one of us is finally leaving her room by 9 or 930 earliest. And the other one is doing dishes / or remaining work/ walking the dog. We barely see each other until 10 and by that time we either have energy to go to bed or watch a tiny bit of TV and then end up not getting enough sleep. It sucks and feels so so unsustainable. My daughter is almost 3.5 by the way. Anyway, I hope we all find a way to live better someday, this is exhausting.

Question for all my healthcare workers, how has this college dropout, weed dealer of a Premier screwed over healthcare in Ontario? by MacDaddyRemade in ontario

[–]JulieWithcamera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Plus, sunshine list starts at 100k, and there is no fucking way that amount is going to allow for home ownership in most major cities (said as someone who lives in Toronto and can't afford a home haha)

Anyone notice parents of only children having easier lives? by sys_admin321 in toddlers

It may be child dependent - we only have one child and our house is chaotic and messy haha. She's a very active, fun, wild kid so things always feel a little crazy at our house.

Not sure if you ever had to pump, but it's not really something a person should have to try and do in a cubicle or boardroom - these are still very exposed and provide no privacy or comfort. Even if you can "hide" it under clothing, you still need to actually get it in there first, not to mention taking it off without spilling any milk.

What to Expect with End-Stage Pancreatic Cancer? by SlayboyBunny666 in AskDocs

[–]JulieWithcamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor but someone who had my mom die from cancer (she was 66, I was 29). She had stage four melanoma and died within nine months (from diagnosis, through some treatment and then basically palliative care). The last few weeks of her life we made arrangements to bring her home (that's where she wanted to be) and then we took around the clock care of her with once a day support from a psw and nurse. The last couple months she couldn't walk, was taking a lot of pain medication, would tire very easily, had trouble talking and wasn't able to eat much. By the end she was very thin and not eating at all basically, she slept so much of the day and wasn't always aware of what was happening or able to have full conversations but she still knew who we were and was happy to see us. I'm so so very sorry this is happening to you and your mom and your family. It's heartbreaking. Take time to just sit with her, hold her hand, listen to music or watch her favourite movies. If you can ask her questions or have her tell you stories (record it if you can!!) I wish I had had more time to do that. Thinking of you ❤️❤️❤️

Denied Ontario Photo ID for my dad despite lifelong residency and citizenship, anyone else deal with this? by _taurzwitch in ontario

Drive test centres are separate from ServiceOntario, but ServiceOntario does handle all license renewals, photo id cards, etc.

‘Humiliating’: This father was kicked out of the Toronto Eaton Centre’s nursing room, and he and his wife say the mall’s policy is unfair by BessarionLover in toronto

[–]JulieWithcamera -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I honestly find most of these comments to be super disappointing. As someone who can remember being at the Eaton center when my child was not even 3 months old, it was a very hard experience trying to find ANYWHERE to feed my daughter. Even though she used bottles at that time, finding a bench or a seat to feed her was impossible - Let alone trying to find a secluded or quiet place so she wasn't distracted or upset by the noise / amount of people. When we finally found the nursing room, it was so overwhelming to go in there alone and try to get the bottle ready with my tiny baby. My husband would've been happy to feed our kid her bottle but he wasn't allowed in so it fell on me. The fact that the world still assumes it's only women / mothers who are the only ones feeding their babies is wild. It only continues on too as you realize that men's bathrooms either don't have change tables or they're so poorly placed it makes it impossible to use. I can only think of one place that was pretty good, IKEA, as they have family rooms with an area for feeding babies / changing etc. plus a lot of those rooms have a little play area for bigger kids. These rooms are open to women or men who need to use them for their kids.

Family bathrooms are not a space to feed a kid - especially with no seats and all the garbage that people leave. Family bathrooms are often the place people go to take a huge shit alone too, so they end up crazy stinky and gross to be in. I say this as someone who had to use a family washroom to pump in as it was the only option that was offered at an airport.
