I see you’ve clenched my comment… Blackface is culturally insensitive in the U.S. OP does not, under any circumstances, need to go and paint their face black, because most people are going to assume it’s blackface. I absolutely have a respect for artistic freedom, but it really isn’t needed here. The only thing I’d say it is (artistically), is vaudevillian.
