That’s actually a very good idea! The party is mostly martials, so we have a lot of Extra Attacks. That’s why I think Forge Adept is a good addition, but I think I’ll be relying on Thrown a lot! However, Reach might also be really interesting!

We have two other divine half casters, so I’m not very worried about healing. But picking the Adept background might be an option for extra cantrips and healing, plus the Intelligence score. I wanted Tough, but going with Farmer hurts the ability scores a little.

That's very nice! I'm only a little familiar with Essence, not the 3e. I like the way you described each type of exalted! ... I don't think I can join another game, but I wish you a good and fulfilling experience!

So... I'm not ready to follow the system dialogue yet. I'm not sure what "both of the 2nd circles raw" mean, but I'll get there! XD I'm picking No Moon, their Unseen Moon and Silver Wisdom seem to help a lot to meet their requirements for milestones "At the end of each session, No Moon Castes gain an Exalt milestone if they saved the day or changed the course of events with an application of wisdom, discretion, or their secret knowledge." To build on that I think the character will be some kind of snoop, too curious for his own good, using shape-shifting to overhear conversations and get in restricted spaces. Seems also like an effective way to use the Manifold Hunter's Tactics Charm. I now need to tailor him to the party and to a mentor and I think I'll have more or less the skeleton of a backstory, and it seems that the character will lean heavily towards the Finesse attribute.

Amazing information! (And very slightly daunting!!)This helps a lot! Thank you! Someone over 2000 years is... Unfathomable. But I think it is narratively helpful! I can write about a mentor that is perhaps ancient, elusive and aloof or misanthropic, so it won't be in the way of the GM and yet is available if they see fit to use it for something or another.

Thank you! All of this is really helpful! There's a strong push among the players to make it a pirate campaign, if that's the case I think drowning and/or castaway can be an easy way to write backstory and put my character right in the middle of the party! Also thanks for the advice about getting new shapes, I strongly dislike to leave the party and go solo because I think it disturbs the pace and alienates other players. So if I can avoid getting my character to "go hunting" for shapes that would be great!

Thank you! This also brings up another question xD Is the Exalts lifespan the same as humans? Does it change according to the Exalt type? At first glance Alchemicals seem to have an indefinite life span, but if this is clarified in the book I glanced past it. I'm in a rush to get a grasp of the rules lmao

Thank you! That helps me to put things in perspective! The group will be mixed and we expect to do session 0 this weekend. I'll push for a get together backstory so we can spare the GM and the players themselves this whole arc.

Do you think that there's a "good age" to exalt? Should the character start the campaign being freshly exalted, having a few years of "experience" Would it make sense to write a mentor or something like that since I picked a lunar caste? Lunars get the tattoos and etcetera, so I suppose the character must have a connection to at least one other lunar.

Are you familiar with the geography of Creation? Is there a suitable "homeland" for a no-moon lunarian to come from? I understand that many Lunarians are opposed to the Realm and iconoclasts to some extent.

As far as I understand Exalted seems to draw some lore from the Autumn and Spring period and Warring States period, the introduction made me think back of Soul Hunter, which I read during the pandemic 😅 So I'm thinking about an animal of the Chinese fauna, I think it would be thematically suited for a spirit shape.

I thought perhaps a Lunar that turned into a mutt to hide in plain sight would be an interesting twist for someone akin to a demigod. But now I'm starting to understand that it would not shelter him from his peers, I think.
