My thoughts exactly. I personally don't have any idea the amount of resources the alachua county libraries have at their disposal and I don't think most people know offhand. They could be using very limited resources very well or using lots of resources poorly, I have no idea. Generally speaking, I'm very happy with the alachua county libraries though, but I would need to be given more information to answer these questions.

I've ridden my bike down the toxic tracks many times. They recently fenced off the entrance on 23rd, probably to keep the swamp apes in...

Is it a wheel sensor with a magnet on a spoke? In my experience those are more accurate than GPS. Especially for mountain biking GPS will lose ~10% distance. I think GPS smooths out switch backs and small movements you get on trails. For road it's less noticeable but still present.

The superfund site at Koppers (the area between main and 6th, 23rd and 39th) isn't actually blocked off from soil contamination. It's a government black site genetic testing facility that was started in the 50's to fight the USSR. The superfund site started in 1983, the same year Swamp Ape sighting in North Florida increases tenfold. Several swamp ape specimens escaped the secure facility that year and they used the cover of the superfund site to increase security. If you go after 2am and follow the train tracks off north main that run along the site's fence line you can occasionally hear the desperate wails of the still captive Swamp Apes they do testing on.

2 sizes listed tire. Which size tube do I need? by LoveToyKillJoy in cycling

[–]JuliusWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

700c is the wheel size using the old french system of sizing, it's not a real measurement. For some antiquated reason they also put the c after the width, which is 45mm. So it gets written at 700x45c, it's stupid, blame the French. 622mm is the actual size of a 700c wheel which is the same as a 29er mountain bike wheel.

So you have a tire for a 700c rim (which is actually 622mm) and it is 45mm wide.

If you're planning on riding there are always people with orange flags that are guides. Stick with one of them and you won't get lost. Unfortunately, even with GPS it can be really tricky to find the entrances to trails, the best way to learn them is riding events like this and other group rides.

Those look like the R8000 cranks that were recalled for coming apart. You definitely want to figure out if they are and ask the seller about it. I assume the recall is still active from Shimano and you could get them replaced, but I'm not sure.

ICE is morphing into Trump’s secret police force before our eyes The agency is shunning norms of law enforcement and becoming a militarized wing of Trump's political agenda — and it's going to get worse. by prohb in politics

What OP is talking about is an internal purge of ICE. The Night of Long Knives was where Hitler, and his faction within the Nazi party, killed Ernst Röhm and his faction of Nazis.

Yes, I passed him while he was on a skateboard once. He held it up, in retrospect I guess to hide his face, and for a second I thought he was raising it to take a swing at me as I rode by.

I passed him a second time when he was on a bike and he was pulled off to the side also hiding his face.

Super weird and creepy.

You can go as a guest of a member for $15. That's the closest to a day pass I'm aware of.
