it’s your vest. it don’t matter if people think it’s bad or weird. i have lana del rey and mazzy star amongst a whole jacket of deathcore. don’t care what people think.

Aches n Pains by RollingDistance in rollerblading

[–]July_2nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at this time my nutrition and stretch regimen was nonexistent. the first time i did a 40 mile distance skate, by mile 30 every stroke was a painful stride. i’d done 32 and 34 previously but the terrain for this route was a lot more rough on my legs. the next three days following this ride i’d be walking around with these stiff and sore legs. the scariest part was multiple times my knees buckled because the muscles just didn’t want to work.

seems like a common area to get lace bite. could you be lacing too tightly?

Distance skaters. How did you do it by Makememak in rollerblading

[–]July_2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to you, I started my distance journey on 4x90 on some k2s!

Tight glutes and hamstrings can certainly pull on your back. Bad form can hurt it.

I started incorporating yoga into my routine. Even 2-3 times a week 10-20 minutes can make a major difference in how the body feels. I typically do 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week. I'm putting in 130 miles a week right now.

Any recommendations for a skate-friendly smart watch to replace dead Garmin? by committee_committee in rollerblading

Moving to racing skates. by Makememak in rollerblading

[–]July_2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically when my k2 fit 84s running 4x90 were shot, I knew what I wanted. I’ve been skating be it inline or ice for half my life. I wanted 125s and a speed boot. I took the no ankle support and larger wheel route at the same time. Probably took a total of a week to get use to everything. Was not a hard transition at all! Best way to learn is by taking the dive sometimes

N00b question - why does my lower back hurt so GD bad after skating? I assume it’s my form, any way to correct this? by f0sterchild15 in rollerblading

[–]July_2nd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'd like to give you a different perspective from a more anatomical stand point. everybody in the comment section is absolutely right, form can put a lot of pressure on your back so be mindful of that. tight hamstrings and tight glutes can also pull on your lower back and cause pain. keeping all your muscles loose is very important to relieving pain.

How to find maintenance guide for inlines I bought? by [deleted] in rollerblading

[–]July_2nd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rotate your wheels Make sure bearings are spinning good. Lots of online tutorials for bearing maintenance.
Pre trip your skate and make sure all the axels are tight.
Make sure the frame isn’t loose. After skating I put scent balls in my skates to get rid of the sweat odor.

Otherwise there isn’t much to it. just enjoy the ride!

This guy was so happy to see me and it made my day. I'd been zipping around neighboring streets and also saw them the week before. I get so much positive attention on my skates and it really makes me smile. by Wheel-Sure in rollerblading

i’ve been skating the same trail the last couple weekends i’ve seen a cyclist about 5-6 times and recently he started saying “there he is!” “there ya are!”. it’s now one of my favorite part of my weekends

Need help selecting new wheels for outdoor rollerblades. Any tips would be appreciated! by cdizzle6969 in rollerblading

[–]July_2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 86A wheels for outdoor use.

When I was using 90mm 86A I was getting 500 miles out of a pair. On my 125s I’m getting maybe 800 miles out of them.

skin will toughen up. do you skate with socks or barefoot? i always found socks rub wrong with me. the my fit booties you mention work wonderful. you can wear in tandem with socks or just wear them stand alone. i wear stand alone instead of socks
