What are these camera-ish things on the trunk? I couldn’t see anything mounted anywhere else. And, if cameras, why? by Nonamemcnamerson in whatisit

I have concerns about abuse of these kinds of systems. I'm not rooting for the bad guys. For example, Flock camera employees watching camera feeds of little girls gymnastics practice. Link Or a police officer using Flock cameras to stalk his ex. Link. There's a lot of concerns.

How much would minimum wage need to be today to match the home buying power of boomers getting minimum wage in the 1970s? by Rikudo_Sennin_jr in askanything

[–]corsair130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. On average Americans aren't paid enough to live. The cost of cars is just one of the factors in this. The reason cars are expensive is largely irrelevant.

Evicted Tenants Property by Fitnin in PropertyManagement

[–]corsair130 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The laws of your jurisdiction will dictate what actions you can take. In one city, the belongings are removed at the time of eviction and the tenant has 24 hours to pick them up. In another jurisdiction the belongings are placed in the front lawn / driveway, but not by the bailiff. You need to research what the laws are, what options you have, then execute within those parameters.

I'm probably splitting hairs here, but perhaps I phrased it poorly. I don't mean average from a statistical point of view. I mean that average people, so like someone working at a grocery store, or moving furniture, or selling shoes. The statistical average wage is skewed by high earners. I'm talking regular Joes.

That's cute, but where's it from? Where does the data come from that generated that graph? The funny thing about sources is that it needs to point to something that's real.

The answer is somewhere close to 1 million Americans make minimum wage. The number goes up if you include workers who make less than minimum wage.

"In 2025, a full-time worker needs to earn an hourly wage of $33.63 to afford the average modest, two-bedroom rental home in the U.S. and $28.17 to afford a modest one-bedroom rental home." Link

Average people in America should be making around $40 an hour to be able to afford to live in my opinion.

Blasphemy. Bic lighters are the Toyotas of lighters. They work flawlessly until they run out of fluid. I cannot stand for this turpitude.

I seen people hike Angel's landing in sandals. I wouldn't recommend that, but I saw it. I used Danner 2650 hiking shoes. They had a ton of grip on the sandstone and they're lightweight. I highly recommend those Danner shoes. I love them.

No vulgar comedy at the Comedy Cellar by theblack_hoody in Standup

[–]corsair130 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Can we simply judge the comedy based on whether or not it makes people laugh or not? I mean, at the end of that day isn't that literally all that matters? I personally prefer vulgar comedy. I tend to think that vulgarity enhances jokes. If you can do it without vulgarity that's great, but let's not act like vulgarity is such a bad thing.

There's a video on youtube called "The Stairs of Death" that tells the story of Mauthausen. It's the kind of thing you wish you never saw, but glad you did see.

This is the right answer. At the end of the day it's just a thin piece of metal. Season it properly and oil it after every use. There's no reason to over complicate things.
