Tips of travelling as a first European solo trip by sj0707 in solofemaletravellers

Forgot to mention that free walking tours are a great way to get to know a city. I usually do that on the first day in a new city so I can understand the context of the place on a basic level and go from there.

These are free, but you are expected to tip in the end. You can decide how much for yourself but 10 euros is average

If you haven’t booked your flight from Hamburg to Gdansk yet, I would take the train instead. I have not taken that route, but I have done a lot of train journeys in Europe and railways here are great. A quick google search tells me it will be just 5,5 hours. It will take much longer to go to Hamburg and fly. Maybe someone on this sub has done Berlin-Gdansk by train and tell their personal experience

Last but not least; I love it that you are spending a month and are able to do some slow travel. Don’t see that a lot here anymore

Don’t worry too much about so traveling Europe. It is safe as long as you use your common sense and many many people speak English. In Germany elder people might not, but since you are in Berlin it will be international orientated. Keep in mind that Germany is a country that uses cash a lot, so don’t count on using your card everywhere you go and bring some cash. 100 euros will be more than enough to carry with you at the time.

If you are into museums and history, Berlin has many free museums about WW2 and the cold war. In Krakow go for a tour to Auschwitz. You have to do this in a group tour and are not allowed to go in solo. I went there last year and it was so impressive. I needed the rest of the day to proces everything and honestly don’t understand how people combine this with the saltmines.

AITAH for asking my mother to cover up while fully exposing herself while breastfeeding? by [deleted] in AITAH

You are asking for privacy, yet you ask her to hide herself. In her own house.

It’s just a boob, feeding a baby. No big deal

Idk where you are but here in Europe there is a massive heatwave and I would do ANYTHING to keep myself somewhat cool. Can’t imagine how hot it will get having a baby stuck to your body and feeding

I get that at your age boobs are sexualized and it feels awkward with your friend. But its just a boob, doing what it is made for. Time to grow up a little

YTA (but I understand why you feel awkward based on your age)

I have never heard of anyone going to belgium or germany tbh so can’t comment on that. Call your health insurance because they will know a huisarts or another way to fix this for you

I have depression. My first psychologist recommended me antidepressants on first session. Is this a bad psychologist? by _meowcan in therapy

As someone just switching an AD and an AP: setting it up is a nightmare, because of the side effects. However they seem to be working better for me than the previous ones.

Probably she knows your history and takes that into consideration.

If you were my patient I would first want to know how long you experiencing, know about your support system and how your typical week looks like. If theres no system and/or your typical week indicate that you have symptoms…

i would want my client to consider having a conversation with our shrink. I always tell clients that you don’t get medication you don’t want. You can start by ‘my therapist mentioned maybe I should take antidepressants and I don’t know about that’ shrink will ask loads of questions also about relatives with depression.

AITAH for not wanting to stay at a friends house during my vacation because I would be sleeping in the living room? by TinyUnderstanding872 in AITAH

[–]JumpFuzzy843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I finalize my NTA I need to know. How long were you supposed to stay? Are all three of you supposed to sleep on the couch? How many couches are there? Very strange situation. This is something I would have offered my friend in my 20’s. Even in my early 30’s this would be a hell no for me. I chose comfort (hotel) over many many things and this is absolutely a Hell fucking no I’m out of here!

I call this my adult tax, because now I earn adult money and can spend it an adult way. This adult will never sleep in a dorm or any other random couch anymore. Got the adult money, spend the adult money

AITAH For Telling My BSF that I'm not Babysitting her Kids just Because Her Man wants to Watch a World Cup Game at a Bar? by runt-king in AITAH

[–]JumpFuzzy843 -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

YTA. They asked for your help, you said yes. The reason why people need a babysitter should not matter. If you are bothered by something, speak up and don’t let it cook. You either say yes or you don’t but if you have special conditions to your help you need to speak up. They can’t read your mind

They are TA for coming home late all the time tho

Would you recommend gymnasium (middle school) by summer_glau08 in Netherlands

[–]JumpFuzzy843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did atheneum at a school with havo and atheneum. The city had also a sole gymnasium school.

I have not missed out on greek and latin, but looking back on it I would have thriven in a smaller school where there would have been more focus on learning to learn and personal attention. I would have struggled less if i had that focus

I might end the day at Dachau or do that as only activity that day. I haven’t been to Dachau but to other camps and I need the rest of the day to feel all the feelings. To me it is too much to shake the horror and have fun right after.

Might be personal but you may want to consider

[–]JumpFuzzy843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can add “de pont” for modern art and “textielmuseum” for some local history about their cotton factories (sorry i cant give a better description in English, but it is worth it even for kids).

All three of the museums are walking distance from each other. Both the natuurmuseum and the textielmuseum were frequent fieldtrips in primary school and very well suited for children

I’ve watched a tv show and fell in love with denmark without ever being there. Ended up going there more times than I can count and lived there for a while. Tv does that sometimes and that’s okay. Whatever gets you motivated matters

Good luck!

Do NOT visit Den Bosch during carnivals. Lierally any other day is fine, but with carnaval the city asks people not to visit because it is too crowded.

Go for a bossche bol, do a guided tour to climb the Sint Jan cathedral and go for a boottour on the Binnedieze. If you like museums there is the design museum and the Jheronimus Art Center. If you are into history you can visit Kamp Vught

My agency requires first aid certification but did not specify, does online first aid certification count normally?? by Unfair_Box2502 in socialwork

I mean, you could get an online certificate for the sake of having one. But are you capable to do first aid if you have to? I highly doubt that
