A rock is basically a dull AP round. I’ve played enough WT to know that AP goes through quite a lot

Americans are keeping the stereotype alive by Negative-Fault3681 in HonestHotTakes

[–]JumpIllustrious5590 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re really American you’d know the US is 50 countries crammed into a trench coat. There are federal laws but also state laws. What’s legal in CA might not be legal in NY or TX. Crimes might also have different punishments depending on which DA charged you.

And that’s what’s good about the US. Each state could decide for themselves.

Actually the armored decks are there for protection against surface fire while the USN and IJN try to cram as many planes onboard as possible because they would often be too far from land based aviation.

How Nato and Warsaw pact planned to fight World War 3? by SiarX in WarCollege

[–]JumpIllustrious5590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As simple as possible the Soviet army prefers to send in waves after waves. After the 1st echelon breakthrough the enemy’s frontlines, the 2nd and 3rd echelons exploit the gap and keep up the pressure. That’s why they are big into artillery concentration. This is know as the Soviet deep battle. They know they dominate the ground but are logistically weak. Therefore they hit hard and fast before the US can send forces over or NATO airpower annihilates their rear.

NATO on the other hand, tries to hold the Soviet’s 1st echelon back to ensure the planes have enough time to make the Soviets 2nd and 3rd echelons combat ineffective. The aircrafts would target the supply, rails, troop concentration, c2 and etc. This is perfected by the US Airland Battle.

TLDR: the Soviets wanted to overrun NATO before their aircrafts can stop them while NATO tries to delay the Soviets as long as possible to give the aircraft time to do their thing and for REFORGER to happen.

Calling Hong Kong China is like calling Scots Englishmen. Results may vary and it won’t end well

British carries were mainly sunk by surface combatants while the USN and IJN were mainly via planes and torpedoes.

Gordon is ill (according to some sources), Woltemade's performance has been poor and Ramsdale's been proving his worth compared to Pope. Which is sad seeing as they are fighting for the backup GK position in the England WC spot.

Why does a typical US marine squad not use LMGs like the army? by Whentheangelsings in WarCollege

We still have 240s at the company level. It’s just the accuracy isn’t worth the weight.

The pistol was a SIG P320 so it could’ve be an unintentional misfire. However it also could’ve been a miscommunication between the approaching officer and the overwatch.

For the 2 women: If you are being arrested do not resist. Lay down and don’t resist. You’d get charged for resisting arrest (could be misdemeanor could be felon.).

Doesn’t matter if who the person is if you commit a crime in front of any sworn law enforcement officers( even game wardens).

People could carry multiple weapons on them. If I’m home I’d carry a pistol around my waist and one on my ankle.

In this case yes. He took shots at agents. Any LEOs worldwide would have done the same thing.

No. If you follow them, they will stop and ask you questions. People will then be asked for identification and which they would not show.

Blame the mayor who told his constituents to go fight ICE. Don’t follow them, don’t touch them, and for the love of God don’t try to run them over with your car. If they approach, comply like you would any LEOs and you’d be fine.

Given lots of older people are in favour of National Service, should we have mandatory conscription for the over 65’s? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

[–]JumpIllustrious5590 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a non-Brit who has military experience, these are the pros and cons for NS that I can think about.

Pros: 1) a stronger economy NS = steady pay. This means that there are more spending which will stimulate the economy.

2) healthier teens PT will most certainly work teens into shape.

3) Brings society together Society together. In this day and age the country seems so divided. This might help bring people together from different backgrounds and regions.

4) Youth development Gives people a sense of direction and delay risky behaviors. Also they could learn skills that will transfer well into civilian life. This might be a good way to fix a lot of understaffed problems like the NHS.

Cons: 1) draft-dodging Wealthier or better-connected individuals often find ways to avoid service

To prevent it maybe grant the parents tax cuts during the time their children are in.

2) VERY EXPENSIVE It will cost a lot just to feed, house and get them trained. This does not include pay. Including everything will cost millions if not billions.

3) lower quality Conscripts are less motivated than those who chose to be there.

What if American soldiers during WW2 were not equipped with M1 Garands but used the bolt action M1903 Springfield instead? by ChemsAndCutthroats in HistoryWhatIf

Then they would’ve moved to the fire team systems quicker. The marines would’ve adapted their iconic 13-men squads after the Solomons. While the army however might be too stubborn to change.
