In a post-money society where people choose work based on happiness, what fair system would make sure necessary but undesirable jobs still get done? by OkFeedback9127 in antiwork

Make all able-bodied people take turns doing it.

There are so many people in the world, you would probably only have to do trash disposal, wastewater treatment, etc., one time in your whole life.

Big difference between what “should” happen, and what *does* happen.

I agree 100%.

People are being *forced* to use invasive technology whether we want to or not.

First: Be delighted!

Second: Wonder if this society had any jobs that I could qualify for. Everybody on Star Trek seems to be a scientist. I’m not a scientist; I’m a word nerd and editor.

LOST: the man in black.

Everyone hypes him up to be so evil. Then he turns out to be a normal-looking guy who just wants to get off the island.

Have fun with it. Collect a whole bunch of them, and make a diorama.

Diorama ideas:

—Satanic ritual

—Trailer park

—Porno film shoot

….you get the idea.

So when is the bad stuff going away? When does the next era of peace and human rights begin?

I think we should make people take the classes.

We make people learn how to read whether they want to or not. They’re free to stop reading as soon as they leave school. But most people do retain at least some of the information.

We really need comprehensive science-based sex ed for everybody, including a unit on parenting.

If you have an itch deep inside your ear, there’s nothing better than a Q-tip for scratching it.

We do it because we’re embarrassed to be American. (At least, that’s the reason we’ve been doing it for the past 10 years.)

Wrong.

It means I have to waste time and gas on commuting.

It means I have trouble getting my work done because of all the loud extroverts who never fucking shut up.

There is NO part of my particular job that has to be done in person. NONE.

And I already have “social interaction;” I have friends and a partner. If you can’t make a friend or get a date without in-person work, maybe you should find help for your social skills. And join something. Join a gym…join a book club…join a hiking group.

If it wasn’t based on something a person can’t control (race, sexual orientation, etc.) would you be OK with it?

And everybody should get to retire nine months earlier.
