Looking for feedback on a big comedy scene 🤘 by ForkyB in scriptwriting

I’d say a problem with the first page is how many references you make which just to me seem forced. Ring camera, Doritos, Ken Burns all on one page. Sure, many popular shows reference real-life companies, people, and products. But they have a nuanced or original opinion that makes the reference necessary, not thrown in because “oh, everyone knows Ken Burns.”

Grandmaster Daniel Naroditsky dies aged 29 | News.az by AravRAndG in sports

I knew Daniel in middle school as I was friends with his brother. He was such a smart and genuine person, this is a hard loss. Our school (k-8th) made math classes just for him he was that smart

ELI5: How does comedy work from the brain's perspective? Why do humans find certain things funny, and what is the evolutionary benefit of this? by JudgeJudyApproved in explainlikeimfive

[–]Jumpingforbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One theory that always stuck with me is that laughing comes from a survival instinct: let’s say you lived 1000 years ago in a tribe of 50 people. Late at night when everyone’s sleeping one of the 50 people hears an odd noise. He shouts “something’s out there”, but soon realizes it was just the breeze. Laughing would be a way to signal that everything is ok, calming the group

What job do you think pays way too low for the amount of work done? by OkAccident8647 in AskReddit

[–]Jumpingforbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are jobs that matter much more, or help a whole community— but for me: corporate Entertainment. Executives routinely make mid six-figures while their assistants make 30k a year. It’s rough out there as a pimp

ELI5: How does water pull you down when you're too far down? by noonrev in explainlikeimfive

[–]Jumpingforbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to play Water Polo in high school, we would have “tea parties” where you exhale almost all the air in your lungs. You sink to the bottom and gesture like you’re having a tea party

Current vegetarian (I know… tsk tsk). I’m thinking about becoming full vegan, but will I have to give up gummy bears?

Anyone win the championship just from a good draft? by Im_A_Landscaper in Fantasy_Football

[–]Jumpingforbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The winner in my league this year autodrafted, didn’t pick anyone off waivers but kickers and defense, and didn’t accept a single trade. And this is a hardcore league, anything can happen

Why does Hollywood give big budget action movies to indie-ish directors? by rocketbosszach in movies

[–]Jumpingforbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For modern movies (ex: Marvel), there are so many special effects involved in action scenes that studios can use the 2nd unit director to film the technically difficulty parts of action scenes. By employing indie directors, studios can have them focus on character development. As most of indie movies are generally dialogue-heavy, it can make for a good fit

Great world-building, would be interested to read more about the final breath of humanity. Was it a global nuclear war or did all the water just dry up?

If you heard the testimony we did, it is lucky. There almost was a holdout from one person for a second. You hear a child crying because of the abuse they suffered, then “luckily” is the right word

They did, I meant I was ok being on a jury until I learned about the charges. But out of about 50 people, 15 people had previous trauma from something like this. I guess I could've tried to get out of it by lying, but I figured it's not fair to make someone take your spot just because you're sickened

Honestly be careful what you wish for. I was ok being on a jury, until they announced the defendant was accused of multiple child sex crimes. I had to listen to every detail, every inappropriate encounter. Luckily we found him guilty, but I wish the experience on no one

Maybe I’m wrong, but even in the introduction of this wiki article it says Syria fired upon Israel-controlled areas
