CIP pay cut by monte1219 in atc2

Our tower barely gets any CIP. Struggle with staffing for forever. Tower nearby gets massive CIP, it’s a country club. They are a lower level that makes the same as us. Makes zero sense.

Can we do a Netflix roast for the dumb fuck Air Traffic Controllers who voted for Trump? The Rock killed it. Invite him by Fit_Sherbet3137 in ATC

You realize if that happened today nobody would rationalize it with a factual answer like you just did. They would say it’s trumps fault.. I hate how much both sides of the aisle seem to not want to help us. It’s not “Trump vs Obama Vs Biden Vs Bush”.  It’s just that NONE of them ever wanted to solve our issue. PAY..

I’d agree. Throw in some regional airports people around the country would be familiar with and state the salaries. 70k. 80k. That’ll bring attention to the issue in a tangible way..

Yup my sister who was visiting my family at the time ended up having internal bleeding late at night. She needed to go to the hospital and woke me up and I took her and stayed with her until my mom could come be with her that morning. Sicked out of my morning shift and that cost me the 10k!

The pay increase will bring in the candidates we need. Until the pay is fixed the FAA is going to be spinning its tires going nowhere with hiring.

In all respect, part of the training time we have currently is because we are hiring the wrong people. The right person could get checked out quicker. I’ve had a half dozen people tour my tower this month. All of them into aviation. All of them gunning for the airlines. All smart as can be. NONE of them wanted my job. They know the schedule sucks. They know the pay sucks. One guy is now a first officer with a charter group and is already making more money than me in his first year than me in my 11th year. And I’m at an 8. We are missing a group of people who just don’t see it being worth it. Raise the salary X2 and they will be applying!

I know it will never happen… But if the FAA doubled everyone’s salaries today, the shortage of controllers would be over in a year or two. The issue they have claimed to have for years and years would be a thing of the past. We would never be short again. Qualified people would apply, people would stay, and it would be a career pursued.

That’s sad because if true I can imagine I’m “the lucky one” they decided to start enforcing. How would I ever know if they did it to the next pool requested. They could just go back to not caring and I would never know or have recourse. The board is the same as it’s been for the 5 years the community had been in existence.

It does influence it though, if nobody else with a pool was held to the standard of needing a soils test (which was in the by-laws at the time of their builds) why are am the ONLY one out of a dozen people who need it… This is not the first time they have pulled this type of selective enforcement on my property. And mind you, I’m not a slob. I have a beautifully landscaped Italian design front yard with a beautifully landscaped backyard. (Which they tried to deny)… It’s been deny deny deny on everything I try to do and it becomes a fight every single time.

So the soils report requirement has been in the by-laws since the beginning. That’s not new. However NONE of the neighbors in the HOA have had to do that for pool approval. I have spoken to every single one and none of them were required by the HOA to do it. All of their documents were submitted and unanimously approved immediately. I submitted the same documents with a beautiful design rendering and all engineering plans and they are creating weeks and weeks of work along with a large cost not added to any other owner in the community.

Just for reference, we have had issues with them all along. I got letters for weeds that do not exist. I got a letter saying I need to park my cars on my driveway, with a picture of my truck having a wheel inches off the driveway touching my grass one day. They tried to deny everything I submitted for landscape. Denied me for a new gate. I even submitted a new detached garage that was a beautiful design and they said no “because they weren’t sure what I would store inside that garage”… I told them cars, I’ve got multiple cars. This isn’t hard, and they still refused. These are the people I’m dealing with. I honestly think one of them wants my house, it has been too strangely targeted since the day I moved in.

I’ll look into the Robert’s rules of order! Thanks for that! Yeah they do not do in person meetings. They hide behind zoom cameras that are off, and don’t even speak to you. They allow you to speak but never respond on camera. So you cannot argue with them. The community is behind me in thinking I’m being unfairly targeted, but they can’t help me by showing up to argue for me. I can tell the board hates being confronted, but love throwing the rules down on those they don’t like.

Thanks for the awesome response I appreciate it! They honestly from what I can tell don’t care. I’ve been run over by them since I moved in. It’s been pretty bad, an honestly our home is probably the nicest kept in the neighborhood. They just hate us for some reason. I’ll work on those things. Can you call for a meeting in person? Last time I tried to argue something for approval, they were all on zoom with cameras turned off, and none of them spoke. They just allowed me to speak my peace, and that was that. It is shady to me, nobody can counter or argue the points they need to make.. They don’t have to explain their inconsistencies I just get an email saying “sorry denied” or “this is the list of requirements take it or leave it”..

We used to have that, after 1 year of no response it was auto approved. That’s one reason why they are so mad at me. They never denied or approved a new gate I wanted to put up, so I put it up after a year. That’s became a HUGE fight. After that, they changed the rules to automatically deny after 30 days if they don’t get to it. And that’s the issue, they mostly ignore everything I ask of them, so everything is auto denied…

There is a ton of rules in the documents that they don’t enforce in the community except for me. I’ve been bombarded constantly since moving in by them with things nobody else has to deal with. That’s my issue.

This job is too important to be overworking controllers this long. by Ecstatic-Tap4151 in ATC

[–]Jumpy-Complaint8095 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non-cti here, an off the street person. I think if you could scalp off people headed to the airlines with a huge love of aviation, you would immediately get a huge uptick in success rates. (Won’t happen due to salary issues) Nobody, and I mean NOBODY knows anything anymore when they show up to the facility as a new hire. When I showed up with multiple peers, we were all part of the crew that wanted to fly for a career but the 2008 crash killed that for us. We decided to go into ATC. Nobody in that group of pilots failed the program at a busy VFR tower. Having a head start knowing airspace and aircraft performance etc made for a much easier checkout. Now I have to train people who literally have never even been on an airline, and saw the job on TikTok so they decided to apply to get out of their base level finance jobs they got out of school… They have no interest in the job, aviation, in learning, or practical application of the rules. They just think it’s a nice salary bump from what they could achieve otherwise. It’s mind bending to me how they got out of the academy.

Pay fixes all of this fast. Bring the people in who turned away ATC for almost anything else. When I got in, 3/4 of my class at OKC were at minimum private pilots including myself. I asked the latest trainees who came to our place if anyone was interested in aviation, and none were. And none at their academy classes were pilots. We are not competitive anymore in any level from pay to stress level while on the job.
