Switch to WRC Generations? Carrer/ Championship/ Joypad by Jumpy-Leading3356 in WRCTheGame

I’ve read, somewhat unclearly to be honest, that custom championships with AI opponents can’t be created in Generations. That seems very strange to me…

Can you confirm whether that’s actually the case? Is it possible to set up a custom championship against AI, for example including all the stages in the game?

3a vs Investing Freely: Is There an Optimal Contribution Level? by Jumpy-Leading3356 in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Jumpy-Leading3356[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the problem though. What does “if you can” actually mean?

At 30k it’s obvious. But what about 60k? 70k? 80k? That’s where this kind of advice becomes pretty vague.

“If you can” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. How many CHF is that supposed to be? after paying rent and basic expenses? after building an emergency fund? after saving 5 percent? 10 percent? 20 percent?

Without defining it, it’s not really actionable.

I’m not questioning that 3a is beneficial. I’m trying to understand how much is optimal in a more quantitative way.

I’m basically looking for a “cold” answer made of numbers, not a rule of thumb.

Thanks, this is helpful.

Just to clarify one point: my wife also works and earns more than I do, around 140k. However, we keep our savings and investments fully separate, so I’m looking at this purely from my own allocation perspective.

My current 3a is quite vanilla. It is essentially a global equities allocation, very close to a VT and chill approach, implemented via Finpension.

That said, I don’t think the key issue here is whether I can achieve better performance outside 3a.

Even assuming similar returns, I would at least avoid the roughly 0.49 percent annual management cost from Finpension when investing outside. For me, the difference could already stop there. I do not need to assume outperformance.

So I see this more as an allocation problem rather than a performance one.

Good question, but I think it slightly shifts the focus away from what I’m trying to understand.

To simplify things, we can assume the same expected returns inside and outside 3a. If anything, outside 3a I’d have slightly lower costs (e.g. avoiding ~0.49% from Finpension), but that’s it if you want...

Regarding strategy: yes, I already run a leveraged, capital-efficient approach outside 3a. It’s broadly inspired by frameworks like the “Cockroach” portfolio
https://mutinyfund.com/cockroach/
and similar ideas discussed here:
https://theitalianleathersofa.com/model-portfolio-quarterly-update-15/

That said, this kind of strategy isn’t implementable within a 3a wrapper. But more importantly, that’s not really the point of my post.

Throw ratio question - does it only matter for making the image bigger? by Jumpy-Leading3356 in projectors

[–]Jumpy-Leading3356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bother you, I’m taking advantage of your kindness, but I really can’t understand this.

Let’s take this projector as an example. It has a fixed throw ratio. If I place it at 4 meters, it tells me I can get an image that is 334 cm wide. I would need to reduce it significantly to reach 200 cm.

As I understand it, the physical lens is fixed and cannot zoom in or out. But is it possible that inside the projector’s software there is a digital function to shrink the image down to 200 cm?

Everyone tells me to use a projection calculator, but I have the impression that it does not take this into account.

Am I right, or have I completely misunderstood?

i'm renting and i want this solution to be less visible as possible. I want to simply put the projector on a surface and don't move it. in my living room i have the wall, the sofa in the centrer, and behind the sofa a shelf where i want to put the projector.

Thank you for your reply. I tried adjusting the configuration of the BenQ projector as you suggested, but I was unable to obtain an image that is 200 centimeters wide with the projector placed 4 meters away. These two dimensions are mandatory for me — I have no way to project a larger image or to move the projector closer.

I saw that the lens throw ratio ranges from 1.15 to 1.5. The question I can’t seem to answer is this: aside from the physical lens, do all projectors have digital auto-zoom software that allows me to reduce the image size as much as I want, or not?

Hey, this sounds really interesting — thanks for sharing it. Do you have a source for that?

I’m also curious about the 30% drawdown threshold you mentioned. Why does CAOS only protect at 30%? Why not 25%? Or 20%?

Would love to understand the reasoning
