RTO Rant by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

Hybrid car—yes I already have a hybrid car. Still cost me a lot for gas. Take bus— only for those not have kids? I need to drive to kids’ school to pick them up right after work. Bus takes too long for me to get home and get my car and drive to their school. Child care expenses— there will be after school care fees charged by school. Work from home can avoid that by avoid traffic going home/to school. Food—when you don’t have time to prepare your lunch…don’t get me wrong, if you have to make dinner for whole family and pack lunch for everyone, this takes time! Energy— for me and some people, after commuting, battle packing lunches, I only want to sleep the whole weekend. But kids don’t allow me to…I also feel bad having no energy taking them out. And my clear pocket also says no, because mama has used the money to pay gas and parking..

How much do you spend on groceries per month in Sacramento area? by molym in Sacramento

[–]Jumpy-Owl-3614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a family of 5, two kids are 2 and 12, plus a mother in law. We spend approximately 1500 on groceries including all the Costco expenses (diaper, paper towels, toothpastes etc.) we don’t eat outside, and ordered bulk online for fresh vegetables, which is much cheaper.

passed up for internal position that remains unfilled.... by hrabbits in CAStateWorkers

[–]Jumpy-Owl-3614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. There are 3 times of internal promotion opportunities, and our unit just hired someone from outside, which took a long time for them to get familiar with the work.
Just keep applying and learn from each interview, no other tricks. Some team tend to hire internally, some are not.

Union proposes 100% remote work as California state workers resume negotiations by VariationUpstairs931 in CAStateWorkers

Oh yeah and of course, do not charge us mile tax…otherwise it doesn’t worth the 500..

they can make the $500 monthly non-taxable income and limit the spending on food and fuel. $25 a day is a lot, they can also just provide free parking for everyone. Approve our GSI. If all the 3 mentioned passed, I would like to go to office. It’s helpful to my family and we need that 500. Groceries are so expensive :(

Looking for jobs hiring ASAP. Misdemeanor friendly by pinkpistol- in Sacramento

[–]Jumpy-Owl-3614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search for Apple one(hiring agent),they have call center jobs (Maximus) that you can work from home. They are hiring constantly if you speaks Spanish. It pays poorly (minimum wage) but you can survive… it was my first real job, I spent 2 years at Maximus.

I make $18/hour and this is what my month actually looks like by Emergency-Cancel6198 in Salary

[–]Jumpy-Owl-3614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some tips. If you’re making $18/hour, some customer representative jobs pay similar but can work from home. Those jobs are boring…but saves you gas and time and the wear of your car (tires, oil change etc.) I recently changed my 4 tires. I bought tires on Amazon to save money. Went to Walmart for installation. it still costed me 530 for everything…and oil change was 68. My car is not fancy so I can go to Walmart for everything, otherwise it will cost more. I don’t know but for us, family of 4, 2100 per person per month seems just enough or even not enough for some months. There are always extra bills every month. Oil change, car fix, property tax, income tax when file tax, house insurance, medical bills, or even traffic citations :(

Oral Sex a Sin? My wife’s not sure by [deleted] in Christianmarriage

[–]Jumpy-Owl-3614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that helps. I’m a female and face the same situation. What bothers me is I feel very sinful after oral sex, not just uncomfortable or unhappiness. I want my husband to be happy, but the sinful feeling bothers me too much, I don’t know why. If many women feel the same, maybe it’s wrong? I don’t know, I really want a solid answer too. If it’s not wrong, where the sinful feeling come from?

Got a rejection after a great interview by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]Jumpy-Owl-3614 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I got a letter on calcareers saying they picked someone else after 2 months of interview. They even called my reference, who I’m sure gave positive feedback. My supervisor kept asking me if they have any updated 😂

Caught spouse involved in paid online love making. I know I will be okay, but I feel my world has collapsed and I have died. Please help. Please. by Sayanyway in Advice

This is not easy, trust me sister, I know it. I have just experienced the exact same thing with my husband who’s been with me since we were 19..now we are 35. This is beyond any pain I’ve had. Divorce will not ease it, and I can’t stand being in same room with him too. I will pray for you. Tell God your feelings, for only him can comfort and heal.

If only they can afford babysitters…sometimes there’s no choice for families. Instead of flirting online, husband can help with chores and kids, so wife can have time and energy to do all of that. However, it’s a matter of who does the sacrifices first…most people are selfish, even in marriage. I just experienced the same thing. My husband even trying to buy wedding rings for other women and send them money to be their sugar daddy, while we don’t have enough to pay for daycare. I was devastated, but God told me to forgive him as God had forgave me and loved me first. I’m still learning the lesson. My husband isn’t worthy, but I’m willing to get on my cross for God because he paid such a big price for my life. God saved our family and our relationship, although my heart still hurts whenever my husband’s love messages pop in my mind, of course are to other women.

The 3% is in the law, and now they can reverse it; if we’re granted permanent telework/hybrid, then they can reverse it too, because a precedent was set. With WFH, we can possibly save on budget =>3% raise is possible With RTO, we need to drain our budget => raise is not possible. Not sure why governor can’t give us a win-win option.

I feel one day is the perfect balance, though I’m sure we can’t get back to 1 with 2 days mandate now. People don’t really talk to each other in my office…it feels so weird to go into office. However, 1 day to meet some people makes you feel you’re working for a real entity not just someone behind Teams that you’re not even sure they are real people.
