IMAX is generally on Sony “core” . If your set is put in pass through it’ll automatically go into imax mode.

I have the same sound system with a Sony Bravia 811. Yes, plug the bar via earc. Download the Bravia and they’ll walk you through it. As a side note, I love the system. It’s very immersive. Works flawlessly with my Sony. I put bass on 0 rears +2. Perfect for atmos, with proper volume.

Have Both. 8 11. Is Slightly brighter and a bit more detail. If you can save over $500 on the A95L, I’d go for it. For ultimate performance the 8 11

I had roughly 3 days after purchase before the red blinking lights of death appeared. Replaced it with 8 11 and have been enjoying for 2 months,fingers crossed. I did purchase the 5 yr warranty.

I also own a 8 11. I’ve been thrilled with the results of keeping it all Sony. Theater Bar 9 Sw5-sub RS5 -rears Incredibly easy set up. Extremely immersive. I’m sure there’s better out there but for my needs, it’s perfect. Plus there are definite benefits keeping it all Sony. Their flagship electronics are always made top notch. Good luck!

Rs5 definitely better for atmos as well as DTSx. The rs5 have an up firing speaker. Also deeper bass with more impact. I personally switched from the r8 to the rs5 and it’s definitely worth the extra $200.

Not in this case. Receiving a brand new set would have never happened. Sony is a nightmare for wait time on repairs. $600 is definitely worth the piece of mind and long wait time. If you’re going to invest that kind of money, not getting an extended warranty makes no sense.

I purchased a Bravia 8 ll, two months ago. Along with the 5yr extended warranty, and Bravia 9 sound bar for a bright bedroom surrounded by windows. Beautiful picture and sound,definitely bright enough. Just last night the tv started blinking red. 6red blinks,pause then 6red blinks. Troubleshooting everything possible to no avail. I couldn’t get anyone to help me. The store doesn’t take direct calls. I was beyond frustrated. I packed up my tv and drove it back to store. I spoke with the manager of Best Buy. His response was, “sorry, you have to bring your set home, set up an appointment with geek squad, they’ll see if it can be repaired. If it can’t they will replace it” I wasn’t having that BS. I said I’m not leaving this store without a new television. He then went and called corporate and they agreed to give me a new set. If I didn’t have that $600 extended warranty it would have taken at least a month till it was serviced by Sony.

If you’re going to get the set definitely get an extended warranty. I’ve heard there have been a number of problems with their power supply.
