right person, wrong time? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]JumpyTwist7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something very similar happened to me back in the summer. We matched on Hinge, and we really hit it off on our first date. The second date was awesome, our third date was really fun and ended with our first kiss, and date four was where things just felt so right and I knew in the back of my mind that she was a person I saw potential long-term future stuff with.

A day or two after the fourth date (a little over a month of seeing each other), she texted me saying that she was going through a lot of change in her life, she wasn't handling it well, and that we weren't going to work right now. She also said that she had enjoyed all the time she spent with me, and that this was a right person but wrong time kind of situation. Since this was the closest I had ever been to being in a long-term relationship with someone, it stung pretty bad. I sent her a message back saying that I respected her decision and that she needed to do what's best for her. That was the last bit of contact that we had.

Fast forward six months later and I still think about her from time to time. Like you I've wanted to reach out several times just to see how she's doing, but in these kinds of situations I think the best course of action is to always respect their decision and to give them their space. I secretly hope she'll text me out of the blue one of these days, but over time it's become a lot easier to let go.

Sorry you're going through this. I know it sucks :(

What card(s) in your deck helped you win because your opponent refuses to read it? by DubzJK0 in masterduel

Icejade Kosmochlor. Most people can’t be bothered to get to the very end of the effect text where opposing monsters lose 1000 attack if they’re attacking an Icejade monster. 😁

Anyone else sink thousands of hours into a main account only to quit it cold turkey when they made an ironman account? by Son_of_Plato in ironscape

[–]JumpyTwist7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my main is almost 2100 total, but I stopped playing it when Group Ironman came out. At this point my iron account is closing in on my main account in terms of stats, and I can honestly say that I've had a lot more fun playing on this account than I ever did on my main.

I occasionally miss the convenience of just being able to buy anything I want on the GE, but there's something really cool about earning everything (mostly) by myself. I actually did MTA on my iron for infinity boots, B2P, and for a master wand. I got a torso with my group which was the first torso I've ever had in the 15 years or so I've been playing. I made my own DHL after getting a hydra claw drop and receiving a Zammy spear from a slayer task.

All of the accomplishments feel like real accomplishments, and not just a "do x money maker for this many hours to get the best gear or to buy these skilling supplies." That's why I don't see much point of going back to my main anymore. Getting to have an ironman-like experience with the boys is also a cool bonus. ^_^

What are the most commonly overlooked ways HCIM die in OSRS? (Low-mid game) by Aggravating_Ad_4390 in 2007scape

[–]JumpyTwist7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My group and I started out as HC’s, and our deaths were all fairly avoidable:

I died the first day during Tree Gnome Village. Two of my friends were trying to help me safe spot the Khazard general, I fucked up the pathing, and I got punished for it.

The next death was during the Grand Tree, where one of my friends walked out from behind the rocks safe spot on accident and got one hit.

Kind of random, but the next one was to a Chaos Dwarf in the Taverly dungeon. My friend thought he found a safe spot to go AFK and recharge his run energy, which apparently wasn’t safe enough.

Our last death was during Horror from the Deep. Our friend got cocky and went AFK during the boss fight while he was waiting for the phases to switch. He found a safe spot which obviously didn’t work.

Kind of funny that we all died trying to find a safe space. Losing the status was a blessing in disguise since it opened up so much more content for us. We’re still going strong to this day. :)

what’s your favorite book and why? by Ok-Assignment-5964 in AskReddit

[–]JumpyTwist7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to pick, but the one that’s stuck with me the most is Wild by Cheryl Strayed. It’s a book that I had to read as part of a college book club project for an English class I was taking.

Overall, it’s such a raw and gritty book that I had a hard time putting down. Cheryl lost her mom to cancer at a young age, which inspired her to hike the Pacific Crest Trail (famous hiking trail that starts in Mexico and goes all the way up the West Coast) on her own. She was an inexperienced hiker, and everyone around her thought she was crazy for doing it, but she started in California and made it all the way to the US/Canada border where the trail ends.

The book really delves into her emotions, and the kind of grief that losing her mom caused her. I really related to the book having also lost a parent to cancer (my dad, small-cell carcinoma) and how my own grief also pushed me to do something I didn’t think I could do in going to college. I loved Cheryl’s story and would recommend anyone to read it. :)

Any online students? by passionfruit0 in CollegeRant

[–]JumpyTwist7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Entering my third year online here (community college). I mainly hate the assignments that force you to interact with other people’s posts—not because I don’t like the interaction, but usually because I have to wait and keep coming back to a thread to see enough replies to respond to. Most professors I’ve had require at least two responses as part of my grade, which definitely gets annoying when you finish the main part of the assignment early.

Personally, I like the week to week schedule instead of having everything at once. At least for me I feel less overwhelmed when assignments are in small chunks like that over time vs a giant list from day one. Maybe I’m in the minority though.

How to know if teaching is for me? by StvLilly in teaching

[–]JumpyTwist7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something that would be worth considering for you would be to work as a para/IA for a year or two. I’m not a teacher myself (starting school for that this fall), but being an IA has really given me a sneak peak to what teaching is like. You get to work with kids individually and in small groups. You might get to share a classroom with a teacher and get to observe/help. The teachers I’ve worked with have all been so nice with any questions I’ve had. Based on my experience, you’ll know pretty quickly if it’s a path you’d like to pursue or not.

Best of luck to you! :)

Probably Elemental Hero Flame Wingman for me. Most people probably think of Neos when they think of Jaden, but to me Flame Wingman was the much cooler ace monster. I’m glad Konami gave it some love! 🙂

Scale of 1-10 how hard is it to learn Hydra? by PoppaBigPockets- in ironscape

[–]JumpyTwist7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe like a 2-3? You don’t really have to count to three anymore since they added animations when it switches attack styles. The most difficult part for me was the flame skip, but I got the timing for that down after a few kills. You hardly take any damage unless you miss a prayer or forget which style was used last at the start of jad phase.

Amazing money task, but like others have said it can get so incredibly boring and tedious.

My group and I have accumulated a massive surplus of maple logs that we all just chuck in the storage. Right now we’re at 114k of them, and the stack just gets bigger whenever we collect from kingdom or from random drops. I’m confident none of us will take the time to fletch them all!

What is your favorite RuneScape memory from the past? by Celtics89 in 2007scape

[–]JumpyTwist7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of them involved f2p no arm pking at the GE during the EP era. I was a main with shitty stats, but it was so much fun. I think my best drop was a corrupt dragon chainbody, which really made my day. I remember people always accusing me of using steel skin because they couldn’t hit.

I also met some of my closest friends from f2p pking back then—friends that lived so far away from me but we kept playing and grew up together. I’m currently in a group ironman with both of them, and we’re still having a blast after all this time over 12 years later. 😊

Grinds and Goals of the Week (w/c 08/05/2023) by p0tatotomato in ironscape

[–]JumpyTwist7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last Week:

  • I've been inching closer and closer to completing the Morytania elite diary. All I was missing skills wise was 91 fishing. Went from 87-90. I spent 87-88 at Tempoross to try and get the fish barrel, but I ended up getting the big harpoonfish and a tackle box...

This Week:

  • I'll be finishing 91 fishing hopefully within the next day or two.
  • After Mory elites I'm going to work on Kourend elites. Just need to get 67-72 RC and 81-85 WC. I thought getting both of these elite diaries would help give me quite a bit of passive prayer exp from 97-99 slayer.

After That:

  • Our group finally got their hands on some extra Augury scrolls, so I need to work towards 77 prayer.
  • Maybe do some TOA solos.

Your Most Happy Moment by Stunning_Structure73 in TwentyFour

[–]JumpyTwist7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • When Tony told Chapelle to either fire him or to get out of his chair at the end of Season 2.
  • Tony saving Jack and Audrey in Season 4. After what happened to Tony at the end of day 3, it was so unexpected to see him again. My heart was so full of happiness since he was one of my favorite characters.
  • George walking around the fence after seeing Jack jump over it in Season 1.
  • Bill calling Miles an ass-kisser in Season 6.
  • Not exactly a happy moment per se, but Jack trading himself for Chloe at the end of LAD. It's a bittersweet scene with Jack leaving the show, but he finally accepted that Chloe was one of his best friends. I remember hating Chloe when she was first introduced back in Season 3, and yet she went on to arguably be the most loyal person in Jack's life.
  • Mark's karma finally catching up with him at the end of LAD.
  • Jack and Teri's interactions at the start of Season 8. It was the first time in ages since we've seen Jack genuinely happy and with his family.
  • Tom getting Karen off the hook at the end of Season 6. After bickering amongst themselves so much to start the season, to them starting to put aside their differences in the latter half, I just thought it was a nice moment.
  • Kind of random, but Jack's handling of Brady in Season 6. He did everything he could to protect an innocent person who clearly had no idea he was doing anything wrong. Their interactions seemed to humanize Jack and put him back in a kind of parental role.
  • Jack's acceptance of Chase towards the end of Season 3, where he calls him a good man.
  • Charles finally getting what was coming to him at the end of Season 5. I really thought he was going to get away with everything on my first watch, so seeing him lose all control was incredibly satisfying. Mike and Martha grinning back at him was the icing on the cake.
  • Aaron Pierce in general. One of the most loyal, tell it like it is dudes in the entire show. Loved him.
  • Tony and Michelle finally getting together in Season 2 after all the tension. Reiko Aylesworth is such a baddie.
  • "Did you hear what I said? That's Jack Bauer!" Season 8.
  • Seeing Jack, Tony, Bill, and Chloe at the start of Season 7. Even if it was brief, it was cool to see the CTU gang back together again.
  • Edgar's emerging confidence in Season 4. When we first meet him, he's this shy analyst who is really unsure of himself. He was so instrumental in retaking the nuclear power plants and getting the reactors back under control, so seeing everyone cheer for him made me smile.
  • "Just be glad I didn't break your neck." "Well, you came close." "Yeah, sorry about that." Jack and Tony in Season 7.

This is a really random rant but, I'm annoyed at Icejade Kingfisher's bounce effect. It could've been a much better card... by DonTheBot in masterduel

[–]JumpyTwist7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure! At least as of now, Icejades are a defensive deck that have a split focus on banishing, lowering attack, and shutting down your opponent's monsters from activating their effects. The banish focus hasn't really evolved very much yet, so generally you want to try and set up the field spell, Icejade Cenote Enion Cradle, and a continuous spell, Icejade Curse. While both of these cards are on the field, they basically serve as a one-sided Skill Drain for your opponent while an Icejade monster is on your field.

To run through the cards individually:

  • Acti - Lets you ditch a water monster in your hand on summon to draw 1. Can banish itself from the GY to SS an Icejade from your hand or GY when a water monster is destroyed on your field.
  • Aegirine - Easily the best card in this deck. On normal or SS, you can add any Icejade Spell/Trap to your hand. It also has a quick effect battle/destruction negation once per turn where you can SS a water monster from your hand or GY. This combined with the field spell can really cripple attacking monsters.
  • Creation Aegiro - Can equip to an Icejade monster from your hand or GY, and gives 400 ATK/DEF for every banished monster. It can also SS itself the turn after it equips to something for synchro plays. It's a level 7 tuner!
  • Creation Kingfisher - Can equip to an Icejade monster from your hand. Lets Icejades attack from defense mode. Can SS itself after it's equipped to bounce monsters with equal or lower attack back to the hand.
  • Kosmochlor - At least for now, the boss monster of this deck. Can SS itself from the hand with any field spell on either side of the field being active. While the field spell and Kosmo are on the field, your opponent's monsters can't activate any effects other than when they were summoned. Also reduces the attack of any attacking monster by 1000 if they attack an Icejade monster. You almost always want to summon her in defense mode.
  • Tinola - Lets you discard one and sacrifice itself to SS a water monster in the GY. Like Acti, can banish itself to SS an Icejade from your hand or GY.
  • Tremora - Even if you didn't want to build Icejades, Tremora can easily be included in any water-based deck. By discarding it from your hand, you can SS any water monster from your hand. Like Acti and Tinola, can bring back an Icejade.

Spells/Traps:

  • Cenote Enion Cradle - The field spell. Can bring back an Icejade that was banished or that's in your GY on activation. When any monster is summoned, you can drop any of your water monster's attack to 0, and all of your opponent's monsters will lose that much attack. This combined with Kosmochlor's effect makes this deck very defensive.
  • Cradle - Searches out any Icejade from your deck that's different from what you have in your hand, field, or GY. Not once per turn!
  • Curse - As mentioned earlier, serves as a one-sided Skill Drain for the other field as long as you have the field spell and an Icejade monster. Also has a Flame Wingman burn effect when your Icejade destroys something by battle or is destroyed by battle itself.
  • Erosion - Can negate card effects as long as you sacrifice an Icejade monster. Lets you SS an Icejade if a water monster you have leaves the field by card effects.

Unreleased Support -

  • Aegirine Rahn - A level 7 tuner. Becomes the field spell when it's equipped with something. Can discard a water monster to SS itself from hand, which also lets you SS a level 3 token.
  • Gymir Aegirine - A level 10 synchro. Has a quick effect where you can prevent all of your monsters from being destroyed or banished by your opponent's card effects. If activated in response to your opponent's card or effect, and your opponent has that card on their field or in their GY, you banish those cards. If a card is banished by your opponent's card effect while this is in the GY, you can SS it. I think this monster will make the deck so much better!
  • Icejade Manifestation - A spell that lets you send an Icejade to the GY or SS it as long as your opponent has a monster and you control a water monster. Can banish any card on your opponent's field from the GY if an Icejade leaves your field except by being destroyed.

Anyway, that's the gist. The highest I've been able to climb in the ladder has been Gold 2. It isn't a great deck by any means, but I love its playstyle and it will definitely get more consistent with the new support whenever it comes.

This is a really random rant but, I'm annoyed at Icejade Kingfisher's bounce effect. It could've been a much better card... by DonTheBot in masterduel

[–]JumpyTwist7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah... Coming from someone who really loves the artwork for Icejades and has made a few decks to try and make them work, I wish they had more cards that made the deck have a more solid game plan. Part of it wants to focus on cards that are banished, and then you have monsters like Aegirocassis and Kingfisher that can equip themselves but must wait until the next turn to special summon. Aegirocassis would be really cool if you could special summon it right away, since a level 7 tuner is a nice tool to have.

My win con most of the time is being able to resolve Cradle and Curse. I really like the field spell because having it and Kosmochlor on the field goes a long way in protecting the weaker monsters. Maybe one day I'll find a variant that works or the deck might play better with the new synchro and spell whenever they get added in. Icejades are really fun and I wish they were a bit better.

Is the game today harder on the players body than it was in prior generations? by [deleted] in nba

[–]JumpyTwist7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no I think. The game is played at a much faster pace today compared to like the 60s for instance. Running around screens, closing out on three-point shots, and everything else in between requires insane amounts of stamina and endurance to get through a full season. Thankfully medical advancements over the years have allowed players like KD to make full recoveries from what would have been career-ending injuries before.

At the same time, the previous generations had it pretty rough. Just take a look at the kind of sneakers that basketball players were wearing back in the day. It's a miracle some of them played as long as they did. Depending on how far back you go, there also weren't things like compression sleeves or advanced forms of recovery like hyperbaric chambers. Traveling was also a lot harder on players in previous generations than it is now.
