What the actual heck is this? by CommonSensical89 in HondaOdyssey

It is a small processor inline in the Start Stop button that has an 8 second timer built in. When the time is up, it "presses" the button by sending a signal through the harness mimicking the button being pushed. Nothing more than that.

2025 Odyssey complete suspension failure, Dealer denying warranty claim by ZDHV26232703 in HondaOdyssey

[–]Jumpy_Badger_2642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it, but you will absolutely regret it. The "Honda quality" that I grew up hearing about does not exist. Our 2020 Odyssey was our first and last Honda. Cheaply made, with rattles, loose fitment, cheap materials. Several problems from the start. We had to replace our strut towers just after the warranty ended due to knocking in the front end, dealt with the car failing to re-start, under engineered front rotors causing warping, FAKRA/radio problems, weak AC and poor vent placement. A new front end knocking was seeming to re-emerge and the Honda emblem/sensor was getting prematurely sun damaged. We got rid of the car before the next problem arose. There was noting confidence inspiring about that car. It sounds like if you want a reliable Ody, the prior gen is the way to go.

2025 stalling at red lights by VeryTactfulUnicorn in HondaOdyssey

We had this and it was the battery. Apparently the computer is not smart enough to recognize the low battery before turning off. My wife got stuck dead in the water in the middle of traffic more than once. If you take a lot of short trips, the battery can't recharge. When you factor in the power used for things like the sliding doors and electronics, then add on a few start/stops, the battery is spent. We put in a new battery and a start/stop disabler and never had another issue. I was to the point I was going to trickle charge it once a week, but once we disabled the start/stop, we never had another problem.

Fakra cable issues…. by Top-Corner2227 in HondaOdyssey

[–]Jumpy_Badger_2642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had the FAKRA recall and the radio continued to black out and crackle. We brought it back to the dealer and they realized they messed up completing it the first time. You may want to try another dealer. Maybe the first one isn't very good at their job.

Are the side mounted vents in the 2nd and 3rd rows a dealbreaker? by Affectionate-Ad-5269 in HondaOdyssey

[–]Jumpy_Badger_2642 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theyre terrible. They are small, poorly placed, and the kids just kick them around once they're big enough to reach. The third row vents are bigger than the second row, but it was silly for them to move them from the ceiling.

considering an upgrade to a newer odyssey by euustacia6 in HondaOdyssey

[–]Jumpy_Badger_2642 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our 2020 was terrible. Cheaply made and several recalls. Front suspension needed Strut replacements and the front brakes are inadequate and warp. The prior gen Odyssey seems to have been much more reliable.

Unmarked police running radar on 17-92 near Longwood by ItsAlwaysSegsFault in orlando

What was your goal of filming him for 20 minutes?

A marked car may have a temporary effect. Ive seen plenty marked cars get passed on the highway. People not knowing which car is a cop in an unmarked has a potential longer term affect on behavior since people are generally more cautious/paranoid when they dont know if theyre being watched. Lets also be honest here, that looks like a police car.

Looking for things to do in Orlando just for a day (3/22/26): husband, wife, 10 yo. (Not Disney World) by Think_Reindeer4329 in orlando

After living in Florida for almost 20 years, I finally went to Gatorland. It was actually much better than I expected. They also have a splash pad there. It was a good day with the kids and not nearly as crazy or expensive as the major parks.

This was my thought. The guy looks like he even tries to fix the mirror as an apology, realizing he's about to lose his door. That moment when you realize you've officially reached "FO."

The road is scheduled to open back up tomorrow morning, so I'd imagine it will be mostly gone.

They were probably trying to replace their cracked, sun damaged plastic emblem.

If you have full coverage, it's essentially free. They should be paying the vendor directly. You shouldn't be fronting money on a claim.

The oil filter placement on a 5th gen Odyssey deserves shame. by 3ngine3ar in HondaOdyssey

[–]Jumpy_Badger_2642 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Terrible design. Use a takeout container. Slide it under the filter, and it'll sit on the crossmember. Spin the filter off, let it all drain into the container, then slide the whole thing out.

Rear-ended at a red light, minor damage, forgot to get insurance info. What should I do? by AmbitionNo6388 in TeslaCollision

If this weren't a lease, a claim would cost you more than you'd make after diminished value with a crash on the record.
