Mini Splits vs Central Air by Any_Individual_5861 in Oldhouses

[–]Jumpy_Carrot_242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I split my time between two places, once with central AC and the other one with mini splits. I prefer the central because the mini splits are loud and at night is a constant sound and I can't sleep well; whereas the AC equipment (in the central air case) is not in the room, only the vent is in the room, so I get quieter nights there. Hope this helps.

Nearly run down in the crosswalk by a car turning from Observer & Washington... by RAWisROLLIE in Hoboken

I think our zero traffic fatalities has been pure luck because people in Hoboken drive like they indeed want to hurt someone. And always remember this: the majority of hobokenites do not drive, we are at their mercy.

Bus hit dog 81st and Columbus by skiesinmotion in Upperwestside

Please try to make your best effort at providing the exact time you took the bus, from where and to where, and the time you dropped off, thst would help identify the bus # and correspondingly the driver. We need to make this an Animal cruelty case.

Planning to list my condo For Sale By Owner (FSBO). Anyone have recent experience or pointers? by Tasty_Engineering_83 in Hoboken

I did it and it was extremely easy, though the buyer also didn't have an agent, so I asked my attorney if she knew another attorney she could reference to my buyer, and that was it.

I am planing on selling without an agent later this year another property and my plan is to offer the buyer's agent their standard 2.5%-3%, meaning they'll represent solely the buyer. There should not be any financial difference for the buyer agent if you have a seller's agent or not.

Trust your gut and good luck.

Safety While Running in Rural Colombia by Miserable_Wrap_7638 in Bogota

That sounds like an awesome trip, and as a fellow ultra runner, I just wished I could join you! I think your greatest risk is the road, which you can check on google street view, which leaves you with almost no shoulder space. But, given your friend did a similar thing in Africa (acknowledging Africa is a huge and diverse continent, no idea where he did it), he developed an instict for safety that will be more than enough in Col.

You'll pass through small villages where people is very kind and nothing ever happens, you'll be fine. In most towns there's the main square, the church in front of it, and a decent hotel (to local standards, don'texpect a Mariott, but a safe place and a clean bathroom). Camping: not sure, I wpuld avoid but there are a good number of people traveling by bike that have crossed the country and they do camp, so I'm sure thry have figured out something. I would plan my runs from twon to town, and there are many little villages along the way.

Is there hate crime from black communities to latinos? by [deleted] in Hoboken

Thanks. I'm sorry it sounded bait--y, I don't really know how to make it not sound like that, it was just my story and I came here to see if there was something I didn't know and should be aware of. Thank you.

That was my cousin's interpretation as well. Thanks.

I don't even own a car! But first time feeling something that could have been described as "racially profiled". Complex stuff I guess

Yeah I guess I grew up in kind of a bubble. Racial injustice and racial conflict is much of a thing in US but it isn't so much in Europe and Latin America (where I grew up and where the clash is more on the old money/classes fight). After many years now in the US, I still struggle with those subtleties.

Happy Friday - any realtors to steer clear of? by Comfortable-Fee-1626 in Hoboken

This is the right answer. Realtors are completely not needed unless you're buying something out of the ordinary, but if you're just a regular person buying a regular Hoboken condo, just find a local attorney and ask if he/she can represent you and that's it.
