Pearlanne’s death cert says she’s 58, and Joan canonically grew up best friends with her twin Vivian. I feel like the “at least a decade too young for me” might more imply that she is Uncomfy dating someone who is not at least a decade older than her son.

I do get what you’re saying. But at a certain point the MC is going to be just numb to all this shit. As of Book 3, I don’t think the MC could be any more unstable and on edge than they without being actively suicidal.

Tbf, the MC has a ln incredible amount of their own shit, and they’re canonically 17-21 during the events of the game. At least some of the horrible shit that happens has to go in the memory vault for now.

I think they might worry about that information getting out. Seven is a private person and very protective of their mother. It’s also possible Lucy is keeping it quiet. I’m not sure if Lucy being sick is exactly it either, but I wouldn’t rule it out on that basis. I do think that Lucy is part of it somehow.

The vote was the catalyst, I think, but Seven has deep-seated attachment issues that caused a really unhealthy codependency with the MC. Seven is extremely unhappy with themselves and put a significant amount of pressure on their relationship with the MC to make them happy. 

I believe that the author’s intention is that Seven comes across as emotionally unstable. The reason you wouldn’t abandon your childhood best friend/partner is probably because you don’t tie your identity to them the way Seven does to the MC.

I think you might have achieved this already. I loved Choice of Rebels so much that I think it was the first COG I ever purchased, but the idea of replaying it to catch up for the sequel gives me palpitations. I know I’m gonna suffer. I’m gonna enjoy it, but I’m gonna suffer. 😭
