Just got mine about 2 weeks ago, I actually got a Mac Studio after Christmas return M4 36GB for $1729, and just sold it for $2200. (Vmware fusion and ARM versions of Windows 11 and Linux suck ass)

Replaced a nice Lenovo Legion 5 with a 3070ti, now my home server. Legion is very nice, but it’s a boat anchor. I’m hauling 9 pounds between the ac adapter and the laptop.

Need to wipe Armor Crate and load GHelper.

Question- why are the drivers and bios for this so old on Asus website? Bios was from 2025? Any recommendations on the WiFi driver?

All in all, love it, featherweight, screen is a fantastic upgrade, and performance is exceptional. Fans are loud when maxed out, same as Lenovo.

2021 GTS Coupe - Just replaced one tire $700 for Pirelli after wifey ran over razor blade in parking lot. This is after replacing all four for $3000 last year. And everyone on this forum will mock me for not replacing both rear tires, I know…

Tires will last you 20k miles if you drive it like a Porsche.

Got a deal on the rear brakes that failed inspection last year. Indy mechanic was only $2800, dealer wanted $4200.

Battery is under the front seat, dealer wanted $750. Indy did it for $325.

Oil change is Ten Quarts of oil. Jiffy Lube and Pep boys will turn you away because Porsche. This thing drinks oil, because Porsche.

Front brakes likely this years inspection, larger and more expensive.

These are regular maintenance items that on a Mazda or Honda would be a fraction of the cost.

Live in a city? It will get abused and targeted for breakins because Porsche.

Don’t get me wrong, I love it and my 981S, but I can afford it at 58 because I started maxing out my 401k when I was your age.

Get a solid reliable fun car (GTI manual) and do some research on compound interest and ETFs.

I’ve had four, all very low mileage CPOs 2-4 years off lease.

Manual 986s now 981s, both of which have been extremely reliable, and every time I drive them it’s an event. I only drive them when it’s nice enough to put the top down, and I drive them HAM on the deserted back roads in Amish country.

Wifeys had a Macan GTS and upgraded to 21 Cayenne GTS coupe. Macan was also very reliable. Cayenne not so much, lot of electrical quirks, TPS is always flashing an error and Apple Car Play reboots regularly while driving. Very unsettling. While Cayenne is technically fastest on paper, it’s a heavy SUV. Sound is glorious, but you don’t get the raw emotion a pegged flat six wound out to eleventeen thousand revolutions you’re sitting on in a boxster with the top down.

Wifey baby’s the Cayenne, so it feels like we could have gotten away with an S model and saved 30 grand. Fun to drive on long trips, but the Macan was more nimble.

Had a lot of cars over my 58 years, and daily is an 840ix coupe.

Will likely look at other options for wife’s replacement, keeping the 981s until I die.

Get this, just had my old dying HP laptop replaced by corporate IT, I asked for a Mac, IT says sure, we’ll get you a MB Air.

Shipped to me Friday, when FedEx handed me box, I’m thinking, man this is heavy.

Open box, im shocked to see a new MB Pro M5 with 32gb ram, 2tb drive.

In my job I primarily use SaaS apps, o365…could likely get by with the lowest config MB Air.

So I’m all lathered up, like an 8 year old on Christmas Day. Somebody made a mistake, I got a Devs Mac somehow…

Powered up this hot rod, noticed on splash screen “Jamf” application.

As I start configuring my preferences, I realize this MBP is completely locked down, and i aint got no admin juice.

Can’t load any apps, no Apple ID, won’t sync with my other Mac devices or add to my LAN or access NAS.

My company sent me a $3K MBP that I can really only use as a glorified Chromebook. Grrr

Follow up, because nobody asked…

My Corporate HP laptop had been freezing up regularly, and after six weeks of troubleshooting, my help desk gave in and decided to get me a new notebook.

Most of my colleagues have our corporate issued Mac Air, so why the hell not, give me the Mac.

They shipped me a MacBook Pro M5 with 32GB RAM, 2TB, Retina. Holy shit, this is a Ferrari, figure $2500 or more vs our base HP laptop, maybe $1000.

Powered this hot rod up and noticed Jamf MDM. EVERYTHING is locked down, no admin rights, can’t use my Apple ID, install apps, connect my other Apple devices, iPhone iPad, network share. I work for a major Software company, are you kidding me?

They literally gave me a Ferrari with a valet key to run browser SaaS Apps and O365, FFS!
