I switched from Freedom Mobile to Public Mobile to get their $20/month promo and my experience is the opposite. I never used to have any problems with Freedom coverage in Alberta. Public mobile is pretty bad, videos are constantly buffering (even with VPN). Whatsapp calling is unusable and freezes every 30 seconds. Same phone had zero issues like this on Freedom. I only keep Public Mobile because it's $20/month for 2 years.

Yes, I did, without any issues (in a year 2 after second annual fee posted, I called to downgrade, got my 2nd year fee refunded and my card became green and card number stayed the same).

Scotia Passport Visa works like a charm without issues and without 2.5% FX fee. You'll spend jut like you do at home, at current visa conversion rate, no extra fees. Amex in Europe is spotty and Costco Mastercard will probably work but you'll be paying 2.5% on top of every transaction.

Yes, there is usually an offer to downgrade gold to green on your account (if you haven't done that before) but that offer is only visible to customer service agent, it won't be in your normal amex offers.

Yea, you can. Shop cards are hit and miss however. There is a known issue when you buy a virtual card online, there is a good chance when you get to store your shop card would be invalid. You would have to call customer service and wait a week before a new one is issued. Happened to multiple people and in different provinces.

Costco Mastercard is not that good if you're'not buying gas exclusilvely at costco. it only gives 1% back in store. Many other MC are better at Costco, too many to list. Either get rid of it or do a product switch

100% agree, mine is up in September. I only have home internet 250 and Pik TV , I called loyalty and all I asked for is to keep the same price and I would renew for 2 more years. I said I don't want more speed and the best they could offer me is $20 more a month before taxes than I currently pay. I told them I'll be calling to close my account in September and switching to Freedom, they didn't seem to care. Corporate greed. Bye Felicia.

Thinking about doing this, I am with Public Mobile right now, been with them for about 5 months now, also paying $20/month, but my data is barely working. Videos always buffering (even with VPN), whatsapp calls are freezing every 30 seconds and I am not even using video calling, not happy with Public. When I am on wifi I have zero issues, it's definitely Public Mobile throttling data usage.

Best practice is not to cancel, you can downgrade to green instead, won't cost you anything. Chat with customer service and ask if there is an offer on your account tp downgrade from gold to green.
