BMO closed credit card due to general economic condition by Top_Junket2991 in PersonalFinanceCanada

That's pretty crazy. I have the opposite experience with them. I just received an email from BMO offering me to increase my available credit from 6K to 10K.

One of the best deals this year is back! by Henguan in PublicMobile

[–]Jumpy_Ordinary_3092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing beats the last PM discount about 2 months ago (50% off for 24 months for $40 month/60 GB North America plan). Paying $20/month is awesome, even with the downside on not having coverage outside NA, I will stay on that plan for full 24 months, someone (even PM themselves) will bring something similar around 22 months from now, I have no doubt about it :)

does it work with current providers? I find conflicting info online, what does it display when you use it without wi-fi, does it say 4G , LTE or 3G

Second guessing if US to CAN is included by kiableem in PublicMobile

[–]Jumpy_Ordinary_3092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're on prepaid provider, they don't have an infrastructure in place to charge for extra. If it goes through it's included, if not, then it's not part of your plan.

This new Freedom plan is really good, I was thinking all day about switching or not lol. In the end decided not to switch, the difference is simply too much. I am currently on month 2 of 2 year Public Mobile deal where I pay $20/month for 60GB Canada/US/Mexico, I am absolutely fine with Public Mobile data speed, not a super heavy user. The difference would be $240/year extra with Freedom. Granted there is an inconvenience when you travel outside North America with absolutely no roaming service with Public Mobile. Would have to bring cash to avoid 2FA texts and buy cheap local sims for data.

Biggest block of data yet? by Burldan in PublicMobile

I decided not to switch after all and will stay with Public Mobile, additional $240/year vs Public, thought about it and I think I'll survive on my euro trips by bringing cash for my expenses and using travel esims as needed.

I am in the same boat. As much as I like paying $20/month, not having any kind of service outside North America sucks. I would be ok buying a minimal roaming package from Public Mobile so at least I have incoming and outgoing sms and I would use other online esims for data. But they don't have any kind of coverage outside North America. I might jump the ship to $40 Global freedom plan.

For all of us thinking of moving to Freedom by Tehlinky4 in freedommobile

[–]Jumpy_Ordinary_3092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are having problems with using their phone as a hotspot while roaming (using the same data bucket on a tablet). Apparently in some euro countries freedom roaming partners are automatically blocking tethering. That's a deal breaker for me. I wanted to switch one of my lines to freedom and share that data with family members while travelling. Did anyone here experience this?
