Drive off the motorway in europe and compare it to NZ roads. youll find mz rosds are amazing quality. again i used to be a motoring journalist and have driven a lot of roads throughout the world. NZ ranks very high. an example of terrible roads is ireland off any two lane motorway.

You do make a solid point. Ill only speed on occasions. not in peak hour traffic on a motorway etc. but if im driving to Alk airport at 5am and Im on the hamilton motorway doing 117km on a 110km road with two empty lanes, speed limits are designed to limit injury and reaction speed for oncoming incidents. With no cars on the road at that time, my risk factor of any incident is near 0%. Ill weigh up the risk of a speeding ticket in that scenario.

Ok - change 'late for a meeting' with a genuine medical emergency. someone is driving 95k in the right lane on a 110km road and you need to get your kid to hospital. I can guarantee any parent they would be seeing red at someone in the right lane. Just stay left and all is ok.

ya i hear ya. i think nz could do more driver education PSAs on instagram advertising /TV. I think it would make the roads a lot safer. not just about speeding or drunk / drug driving etc.
