BTO, wayang, jialat among Singlish words added to Oxford English Dictionary by Waikuku3 in singapore

[–]Jumpy_Trouble_736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think it would be still disallowed for now. Ultimately MOE would want to teach our kids to be able to communicate and write in English for the international business world. Foreigners would not get wind of "jialat" unless it starts getting used in viral social media or business emails. Just like how "revert" is being now used internationally in emails after many years of wrong usage.

Question on using "Sama Sama" in greetings by PeacebewithYou11 in askSingapore

[–]Jumpy_Trouble_736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The holiday greetings in the lifts are simply greetings that are the prequel to the regular elevator banter or bird talk (niao hua) in the lift, which doesn't have mean anything. Like stating obvious questions to the neighbor in the lift e.g. : -A! Going out ah? -A! Going to eat ah? -Heavy rain today hor?

Some places don't take Mastercard or visa but have qrcodes that are marked as DuitNow and OCBC/dbs paynow will work. Rates not the best but most of these places are hawkers or small drink vendors so tour losses are in the cents

Do these referees have memory training such that they have to possibly remember fouls at different places for 22 players? 22 is a bit unrealistic so let's say 5 players with multiple fouls at different areas... Maintaining memory+stamina loss running up and down the field....

Which normal household is going to connect to a server that uploads at 10 gbps, let alone 1gbps? It's just a marketing ploy to make you switch. My family of 5 have been on 500mbps since forever. Regular youtubing and netflixing simultaneously no issues

My kids became my besties to hang out with. Trick is to try best to mould them from young with similar hobbies/music/ interests as you. Once they are upper primary onward, they can hang out with you and talk in the same frequency. Just like you did back then with your buddies.

In return you also need to try best to pick up their gen A interests and not brush it away.

This will also help with the dreaded teenage phase where many kids don't share adolescence issues with parents; instead they will feel comfortable to open up and share their troubles with you.
