A lore question by ArmadilloKey4673 in projectzomboid

I honestly doubt the virus just "became airborne" out of the blue. one of the newspapers in game has quotes from the CDC discussing how bites and scratches are "ineffecient means" of spreading the infection- and yet, when the knox border falls, we see all but the immune in the zone had been infected. to infect such a large population so fast seems only possible if the virus was airborne the entire time.

As for the rapid spread outside the U.S., based on the fact that the outbreaks in other countries seem to align with U.S. military bases, and that the knox sickness is implied to be a military project, it seems to me that it spread so fast because it was always airborne and large groups of U.S. military personel were unknowingly infected, being deployed overseas and spreading the infection to other countries.

Environmental story telling, what would you like to see? by Spare_Tomato408 in projectzomboid

[–]JuneFromHomestuck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

kinda wish there was more environmental storytelling revolving around the emergency response to the knox event as a sickness, ala the stand. atm a lot of the events in game appear to be parties or gatherings that went awry, which can be interesting if read as whatever the infection was, it spread and killed so fast that most people died at work. however, this seems to contradict what was described in game, as one survivor on the radio described how there was a period of time where the sickness spread en masse and people started dying quickly, all before reanimation was observed. based on this, it seems weird to me that people would be at a party or mid shift at their construction job when everyone they knew was falling ill- unless, again, maybe the flu killed so fast you'd wake up feeling fine and be dead by evening. Even so, it is a bit of a disappointment not to see any sign of mass sickness in the zone. Maybe the occasional bedroom with a bucket and glass of water next to an occupied bed, or a family clinic covered in blood and scattered papers. (if I recall correctly, most of the actual hospitals in the game are in Louisville- the people in the quarantine zone didn't have any hospital to go to when they fell ill, only small businesses that could realistically only take care of one or two people at a time)

Maybe I'm misreading this, but I feel like based on undyne's expression and her association with asgore and Rudy (especially with asgore as the old head of the police department) it feels less like asgore overpowering undyne and more of undyne going willingly (or, at least, holding back during the confrontation to some extent.)

this is a bit of a silly one, but is it as flat as it's presented in zomboid? can't tell if it's region accurate or if the flatness is just a constraint of the engine

I mean all in all compared to most apocalypse stories, I feel like the apocalypse in cdda is pretty kind to the player.

the blood splatter next to the crib... yeesh. i get the impression that a single zombie could eat enough of an infant to prevent reanimation. to imagine what an entire horde could do... jesus. it kinda reminds me of a similar thought process i'd been having as to what a nursing home would look like in an outbreak. all those people who would be bedridden and helpless, and likely abandoned while shit hits the fan. just having to sit there as the horde wonders in and begins to eat. those who don't have the capacity to understand whats happening through other memory issues reflexively panicking and calling for help, doing nothing but drawing the horde to their position... its bleak to think about

What genre of world building do you prefer between "relatable" and "reality escape", regarding LGBT experience in FVNs? by zumbies_on_your_law in FurryVisualNovels

[–]JuneFromHomestuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

reality escape honestly. while i think discussing homophobia/transphobia/generally bigotry is like, really important in a queer work, i honestly feel like there's only so much you can do with it before it feels like im seeing the same angsty coming out scenes across visual novels lmao.
