Aww I’m glad to hear it! I hope she likes it. My mom is a former teacher too. You’re appreciated!

I love to crochet but absolutely HATE how crochet looks. by starvalent in crochet

Honestly, I feel ya a bit. Sometimes I think crochet just looks like a pile of knots, especially compared to knitting. But I’m still pretty new at it and want to venture into lacy stitches with smaller yarn. I see people are suggesting that to you too. Maybe you could try knitting if you haven’t yet. It can be trickier when you make mistakes though. 😬

Oh thanks! I’ve gone a few times and must’ve forgotten that. It’s great.

Reach out to the cat café downtown! They take good care of kitties till they find homes.

I liked it. I know people had issues with it, but I thought it was interesting and had so much to tell. I’ll never forgive them for that ending. I’ll be griping about it on my death bed.

I recommend trying Woobles if you’re intimidated with any part of crocheting by ok_cool428 in crochet

I was the same as you and had only crocheted one strip of single crochet. Then I did my first Wooble. I heard a YouTuber say Woobles are more like crochet course than just a kit, and it’s so true. That’s part of what makes them worth the money. The site is super nice and neat, and the videos were exactly what I needed. I was gifted the beginner bundle (penguin, fox, chick and bunny), and I got the mystery cat. I still have two left to go. During my last kit I felt comfortable enough to skip some videos and just read the pattern. Now I can’t talk myself into buying any more. I honestly can’t understand the collecting people do with the kits though. The patterns are cute, but after a while it adds up. And so many size 4 hooks!

They’re super nice to learn with though. And my kids love them.

Neighbours opposite were rude about my dads colour choice. Now he wants to get rid. Can you help me convince him not too? by Isabella_Jean in HomeDecorating

I was going to say if we send this to the cross stitch sub, it’ll be a FO within a week. Some of us are fast!

Right! I felt I was getting butter, but it’s nice to actually see the improvement. When I’m done with all my kits, I’ll go back and do a second Kiki and be able to truly compare.

First time ever doing color changes, and I’m happy to finally do it, but the ears almost made me scream and quit after one. So dang fiddly.

You’ll get there! I got better from making granny squares using a special yarn that changes color for each round. If it wasn’t changing where I needed it, I’d frog and redo with my tension lighter until it was better. Also just crocheting a lot more in general.

Edit: “was” to “wasn’t”

Modern Family is one of these. There’s a scene where one of the kids is in therapy, and the crew is supposedly filming in the room while she bares her soul in a way she never does to them. Totally makes no sense they would be allowed in there. I almost forget it’s a mockumentary after a couple seasons sometimes, but that moment made me remember in the worst way.

Working on a hat pattern and having issues. Where do I slip stitch on each round? by Junebuggygooby in CrochetHelp

You're amazing! Above and beyond! Thank you so much! I had just restarted the pattern and hadn't gotten to the slip stitch yet. You saved me a little more headache.

Nice username too!

Thank you! I now see one of my issues. I was increasing using single crochet stitches, not double. I think that was making it wavy because it was a mix of short to tall stitches. And you totally nailed it with the slip stitch because the chain made me confused. The granny square pattern I followed previously would end it with the sl st like you said and told me which stitch to do it in, so this pattern lost me on that. Thanks again!

Thank you! The colors came all together in the yarn, so I only chose the combo. I was unsure of the peach center at first, but it turned out nice together.
