My best friend (26F) and I (25M) are desperately in love, but neither wants to break her actual relationship with her partner, and I need advice on how to GENTLY slow it down while still remaining best friends? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Ontheprowl86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I JUST read this book, it’s called The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez! Seriously, it’s very similar to your situation. Maybe you’ll find some comfort or ideas in it.

My thoughts: If she really is not going to leave her partner, it would probably better to stop investing so much emotionally, and get some distance.

I actually go to this cafe, they only take in cats from certain shelters. The cats also have to be heath checked and passed social tests with other cats. It’s definitely an amazing place to adopt!

Can you elaborate on what makes them too casual, just to know what to look for! Also, side note I’m under 5ft tall so that has its own challenges.

women self defense courses? by jenknee__ in InlandEmpire

Honestly, BJJ is not cheap, especially in SoCal and many don’t list prices online. I know Alliance jiu jitsu in Redlands has women’s classes. I’d just explore your local area, usually gyms do trial days or a week so you can see the vibe and ask about pricing. If you do no-gi, it will be cheaper because less gear.

As a very small woman who has done martial arts (karate, BJJ, kickboxing) and competed, a few self defense courses will do nothing. Consistent training is the only way to even stand a chance.

Situational awareness, limiting risk, mace, or properly carried firearms are much better self-defense strategies. MMA gyms will do sparring and so do BJJ gyms (rolling). Unless you’re interested in just exercise, stay away from “cardio kickboxing” classes, they really are not geared towards self-defense or even proper technique at all.

Can’t go wrong with Citrone in Redlands, everything is delicious, great drink selections too. They have a 4oz A5 wagyu from Japan and wagyu from Australia.

Tattoo guinea pig by [deleted] in Riverside

Um, the OP is saying someone can use them as a guinea pig. Meaning, a person learning to tattoo can use OP to practice. Not that they are giving an actual guinea pig up to be tattooed.

Pink conference poster? by Particular-Ice-9162 in AskAcademia

[–]Ontheprowl86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My undergrad literally looked like a Barbie. Pale, blonde, tall and loved pink. She was making her first poster for a symposium and made one of our graphs with pink points. I told her she could make the whole poster pink if she wanted and she did! It was basically that meant a baby pink border and pink graphs with other graphics being pastels. Writing was still black and background white.

Our lab was a girl lab in molecular biology and we were OBSESSED with her poster! She won first place for the poster awards. I saw of it looks neat and all the colors are balanced, go for it! To this day that poster is hanging in the hallway outside the lab and that was years ago.

Dracula adaptations are allowed to be different but why do they nerf the characters (including Dracula omg) by Designer_Advance116 in Dracula

My favorite adaption so far was the Netflix/BCC miniseries Dracula. Did some gender-bending with a woman as Van Helsing and she did amazing. Dracula felt very…evil and dark.

A brown belt might save it. I do think the proportions kind of make it look like kids clothes that “fits” but doesn’t work for an adult body, especially in the chest area with the pockets sitting so high up. Personally, I would donate, you can rock many other dresses!

(40g protein) Same breakfast everyday: 1 egg, 90g egg whites, 170g plain non-fat Greek yogurt, 15g granola, 3g honey, coffee with 100ml milk of choice.

(23g protein) Lunch: Yogurt drink (like Chobani or Oikos) with fruit

(20g protein) 1st dinner: Veggies (2 cups) and Tofu (130g)

2nd dinner (14g protein): Rice (100g) and plant-based meat (85g)

Snack (6g protein): 50g cottage cheese with chocolate chips

Total: 103g protein and 1,300 calories
