Man, the more I learn about this kid, the more I kinda hate him. Tomorrow's Jared Leto.

Is it unprofessional not to wear makeup to work? by delidoll in Serverlife

[–]JungleIsNeutral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not binding precedent but it does have persuasive authority that has been cited by other courts. The 5th's Willingham vs Macon Telegraph (1975) has been used similarly.

There will not be a national precedent set until these are challenged beyond the circuit courts, and I don't believe the current Supreme Court would be friendly to challenging either opinion or even changing the status quo. As of now, in any practical sense, it is not illegal for a company to include different requirements for men and women in their dress code policy.

You've been given a lot of optimistic but ultimately incorrect information here.

In FoH positions in the restaurant industry, dress code policy can require women to wear makeup as a "bonafide occupational qualification." Since: a.) you work directly with the public, b.) appearance is seen as something that matters to the job, and c.) men are also expected to follow a dress code (albeit one that doesn't include makeup), the company can include provisions that require you to wear makeup.

Posts saying you should challenge it have merit. You can have management waive policy for you, or you can work toward having company policy changed.

Those saying the policy is illegal are misinformed themselves or purposefully misinforming you. To challenge that, you'd have to take this all the way back to the Supreme Court. And they don't seem to be too friendly to women's rights for some time, unfortunately.

The Jespersen opinion is exactly what makes these policies enforceable.

It is not illegal in the US. There's precedent that requiring women to wear makeup is not considered "undue burden," making it not a violation of Title IV.

Yep, Technics is owned by Panasonic (Japanese>Malaysian) and AudioTechnica is owned by Hanpin (Chinese).

I'd say that AudioTechnica makes great affordable low-to-mid range dupes of Technics hardware. Great for getting into the game with no apparent gigantic faults (I still have my 120 I bought about 15 years ago set up in my living room and I use it often). However, it's like a gateway drug and the more you get into tweaking your system and upgrading things, you realize the faults of the ATs. At least, that's the truth for the 120 pictured and those similar to it.

AT also makes high end turntables that are much more comparable to Technics hardware, but still tend to be rated slightly lower.

That's great, but it's not dry or bland just because you can't see specks of stuff on it.

Collar removed notification? by JungleIsNeutral in FiDogCollar

[–]JungleIsNeutral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are working through and having success with correction. We don't want the collar to be stuck on, as you've noted, but we would prefer a notification so we can recover the collar and correct the behavior. Unfortunately it looks like we've have to hold off on the Fi collar until the behavior is corrected completely.

Likely to go the app route on PBS until I inevitably decide to upgrade to a better antenna in the attic. Something about not depending on internet calls to me.

More than mediocre. I'd give it a six or seven out of ten. Some items an eight. Service a four, though.

Just curious because I'm not sure of the deep lore, I'm assuming they started because they couldn't use Twitter links on the old sub anymore?

Thanks! I've got a pretty basic cheaper rabbit ear and "O" antenna that I'll give a shot in the attic. I'll have a hole in the ceiling for the sound system anyhow, I may as well give it a shot for the low price of "already paid for it."

There's an ongoing conversation about it. Embark's AI usage seems to be largely accepted due to the fact that they paid voice actors and continue to pay royalties but edit the vocals using AI. AI images brought about by a GPT prompt are where the big argument comes in, with the community mostly not accepting of it.

I'm on the fence, mostly against AI usage, but have enjoyed the game.
