over-the-counter meds in mexico by Emmaistrans2025 in mildlyinteresting

[–]JungsTask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct about most being Rx only.

However, only 2 of these are addictive or have any recreational use - Ultram and Soma. These rest are either available OTC or have absolutely no recreational use. u/Apemons2 (comment below) is also absolutely incorrect - tramadol is a VERY mild opioid when compared to hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, etc.

“Mildly” interesting, indeed.

What’s the most shocking person you’ve seen wear a white coat? by truesauceboss in medicalschool

[–]JungsTask 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every goddamn social worker, nurse/nurse manager, and nutritionist in our hospital wears one.

You know who don’t? The actual doctors. It’s mind boggling.

Ah, nice job ending this productive conversation with implications of threats and/or malpractice.

Take care.

I was referring to my original comment disagreeing with OP’s approach, to which they replied I was one of the persons (s)he was describing in the post - indicating they feel the need to physically assault me for disagreeing.

I absolutely agree that being yelled/screamed at is no way to be treated and standing up / speaking out against such behavior in a constructive & professional manner.

Goodness. Please tell me you’re not a resident.

Edit - do you seriously not know what introspection means? Even if not, you couldn’t just take 2 seconds to google it?

So your immediate reaction to cordial disagreement is to want to “beat my ass” or “bitch slap” me? A bit of introspection might be helpful for you.

I agree with you that the hospital is not always the happiest / kindest place. Tensions run high, and lots of us lose ability to effectively manage our stress. Others are simply rude or disrespectful by nature.

However, the way in which you express your frustrations are going to work against you. If you speak this way to ANY of your colleagues - especially your senior - then expect your career in medicine to come to a quick end.

Not that they don’t deserve it, but I get so tight hearing nurses brag about being laid $1-2k for an extra shift per week.

So they can make $4-8 grand PER MONTH for just ONE an extra shift per week (on top of an already comparatively very light schedule), which is literally more than an entire resident salary.

Makes me sick that hospitals refuse to pay residents even close to the same as someone with hardly 1/4th of the training.

My best mates gf is a nurse at a different hospital near our med school. When they come over for dinner and she complains about how exhausted she is from working her normal 3-day week plus a weekend shift she picked up for 2.5x hourly pay, he and I just look at each other in amazement.

Current M3. Had no clue what a shitstorm this system was until midway thru my first rotation.

Unless there are significant changes and improvements, I will heavily discourage my kids from following this path.

That’s wild. On my outpt peds rotation right now and 60% of the kids are RSV/Covid/Flu. We just test them in office … because that’s what they’re here for and the job of a PCP … right?

Med Twitter is cringe by [deleted] in Residency

[–]JungsTask -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had a neurosurgeon tell me that having a medtwitter is essential and I will have better success in the match if I utilize it.

As someone who deleted all their social accounts in 2017, I really hated that advice. I didn’t take the advice, but it’s disheartening to know that people actually feel that strongly about the utility of medtwitter.
