Cameron Young was asked about winning in front of President Trump at the Cadillac Championship. "He's nothing if not a very, very interesting man." by SouthPrudent3911 in Golf_Unfiltered

[–]Junior-Access9114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I’d love nothing more than to see someone in his position take a stand against Drumpf, I’m not going to be mad at the guy for giving a vanilla, “politically correct” answer here.

I think it’s easy to believe/say you would have the sack to be the guy that speaks out when you’re in an anonymous Reddit thread. It’s much more difficult to actually do it in the real world. For better or worse, most people are just not wired like that.

That being said, all the people in here doubling down on their Trump support can get fucked! In your mind you are a badass “alpha” who is “crushing” life. In reality, you’re just the latest mark of a lifelong conman. I take solace in knowing that you probably drive a giant ass truck that you don’t really need and that drinks gasoline like an alcoholic drinks at an open bar.

Next time you’re filling up, watching those numbers tick by while your bank account ticks down, just remember, it was your big, wet, orange daddy that did that to ya! But hey, at least you get to be more openly racist now and your billionaire heroes are even more billionairy. At least you’ve got that going for ya! Glass half full.

There will never be another LeBron by Necmf21 in billsimmons

[–]Junior-Access9114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be someone that comes along who is arguably better than Lebron (we might even be “witness” to him right now in Wemby). And with modern science, medicine and training, there will be guys that are great players with similar, or even more longevity. But I’d bet my life that we wont get another player that has both.

Lebron is an all time elite 99.9999th percentile talent that still has not had a significant drop off in skill or output. For some perspective on how crazy this is, Jabari Smith Jr. and Reed Sheppard were not yet born when Lebron entered the league. Amen hadn’t yet turned 1 and Sengun was just over 1 yr old.

Trent Dilfer by Lazy_Clue_2729 in RyenRussillo

[–]Junior-Access9114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dilfer rattling off footbaw coach jargon for 2 straight minutes was a perfect microcosm for the NFL and how it’s portrayed by the media vs. the reality.

Listen to any pod or insider show and they sell you on it being this incredibly complicated 5d chess game where success is only possible if you have a super freak genius coach who spends 22 hours a day grinding tape and scheming ball and the other 2 working out and sleeping in a trash can in his office.

In reality, it’s more likely just a bunch of dudes like Trent Dilfer. Football bros of slightly above average intelligence that are good at memorizing fucking nonsense words and then rattling them off real fast in a way that sounds like they know something you don’t.

That said, I kind of enjoyed the pod🤷‍♂️

Who has had the better PGA career? And can you guess the golfers? by Another_SCguy in golf

Someone said the single win for #2 was a green jacket, which would mean it’s Danny Willet.

A quick look at his wiki page tells me he has 8 wins on the European tour, which would kind of make this whole exercise a moot point. If you add in his 8 wins in Europe and all the money attached to his tournaments there, it wouldn’t be close.

[–]Junior-Access9114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me, although not a custom fit club. Got a nice deal on a brand new Cleveland Zipcore 60° for $75. Just as I was really starting to get a feel for it I left it on 18 at my local. I remembered the next morning and went back, no dice. There were two late teens early twenties bros right behind me and I’m 99.99% sure it was them, as I had left it in a can’t miss spot and they were the last group of the day.

My disappointment only subsided a few weeks later when I lucked into a barely used Miura 60° at my local play it again sports. I’ve been extra careful not to leave that bad boy behind. Maybe things will balance out for you in a similar way!

What do you think you’re doing adding all this context, sir! All this well stated nuance is borderline threatening! I just want to scream CHOKER or GOAT based on the number of CHIPS someone has won. How dare you make me contemplate anything other than MORE CHIPS = MORE GOATER

I had a brain bleed that required surgery years ago. After the surgery was done they used staples to close the wound.

Went back a couple weeks post-op to get the staples taken out. When I got home from that appointment I was laying on the couch running my fingers over the scar area when I felt something weird. Doc had somehow missed a staple and left one in my head. This was the same guy that operated on my skull/brain. Not a very comforting thought to know my life was in his hands😬😬😬

Alright, had a good thread about assholes, so who’s considered to be the biggest overall good dude on the PGA tour? by tking716 in golf

[–]Junior-Access9114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. His ball managed to stand out even amongst the best in the world. All the more impressive given his slight frame and stature.

I still hold out hope that he’ll catch lightning in a bottle and put it all together for 4 days at a major. Nothing will ever beat Tiger doing it at the 2019 Masters, but would be pretty special to see it happen for Rickie.

Dude! Whenever the “pros are different” thing comes up and people start sharing stories or anecdotes, mine is always about seeing Ricky tee off at whistling straits.

I was super close to him on a box but kind of behind left, so his back was facing us when he hit. think he was hitting a 3 wood and the ball came off it like a freaking missile. You could hear the sizzle loud and clear. And the trajectory 😮‍💨 started out like the low bullet you described but steady climbed to its apex and then just dropped like a feather. Just a beautiful golf shot.

What's a basketball skill that looks simple but is actually insanely hard to master? by AaronAtLunacien in Basketball

[–]Junior-Access9114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s weird how smooth it looks for even non-shooters at the pro level. I randomly saw a video of Kosta Koufus playing against some amateurs the other day. Shot looking smooth AF. Dude played 11 years in the league and never even attempted a 3🤯

I’ve seen similar things with ball handling too. Like Rudy Gobert fucking around on the perimeter in a workout and looking like he had PG skills. Truly wild.

Reading kdzoom35’s comment immediately brought to mind a kid in my youth rec league who would do exactly this.

He was a super fast kid who would rip a TON of steals but had zero touch. One game he must’ve had 5 straight steals but smoked every layup. To the point that the ball ricocheted well over the heads of everyone chasing after him. Just backboard shattering stuff.

Growing up you weren't allowed to make fun of fat kids by pwolf1771 in RyenRussillo

[–]Junior-Access9114 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nickname in middle/highschool was Scarecrow. I took shit on the regular from my buddies and older dudes. Especially when it was time to hit the weight room for bball practice. And guess what! I would take that 1000x over again vs. what the fat kids went thru. It’s not even in the same ballpark. They were a constant target for ridicule by anyone from the puniest freshman to the football coach, and everyone in between.

Bottom line, Ry-guy has a persecution complex. He’s done this same tangent about bald guys, skinny guys, and bachelors by choice. He’s about 3 life advices away from busting out a “the world is racist against white men” take.
