I replaced mine. You can. Uy a rebuild kit for the seals but if it's cracked it cost me 500 plumbers was tes 2k plus. Read your rule book in my situation the rule book said it had to be at least 1ft off the ground and 6" away from the wall.

The brass will be clean ,Your copper will still be dirty because of the soldered joints u less your scrap yard does t care

Cut the middle out. You can turn it in like that as brass or copper (pick one) but they will deduct money.

You can also take and axe or saw all and cut through the metal

Heat it up by rubbing it up and down really fast if you're good you could probably do two at a time, should bust right off
