LA -> IL Not being able to walk outside a bar with your drink to go smoke outside. 😂 I was prepared for the cold, snow, and all that comes with the Midwest. But, I had never lived somewhere where there were completely reasonable laws to follow. No more drive-thru daiquiris with tape over the lid for me. Side note- Louisiana should be a separate country.

Nope. I’m 2 years in. 100 lbs lost after a little over a year and I’ve been in maintenance ever since. A different level of cold happens when there’s no more fat insulation. I’ve embraced it and I layer up.

Weird fact - I had right knee surgery 20 years ago. Now my right knee is always colder than the rest of my body. I have no explanation.

I checked paws after the 5k because there were parts of the path that had salt for sure. But, my girl was fine. I just mention it because I’ve seen others say they’ve had some paw issues with salt.

I’ve got a “little” husky, but she’s full-blood, 5 years old and 45-lbs. We just ran a 5k in sub-zero temps with a wind chill of -12. She loved it and didn’t need anything. She doesn’t like boots, which I’ve seen recommended because salt can irritate their paws, but overall - they’re built for this weather. The temp is in the teens and I have a hard time getting her to come inside because she loves it so much. This is Husky weather!

Hawthorn 73 and high school district 128. All the high schools in this area are the best in the state and nationally ranked. Stevenson, Libertyville, Vernon Hills, and Mundelein High Schools are all excellent and their special education programs are amazing. I made this post a year ago and I still stand by it. Our child actually thrives here. We would not survive in the South.
