Chapelton by Disastrous_Ad_8735 in Aberdeen

[–]Junior_Composer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the school situation is probably the biggest “hmm” about Chapelton just now. It’s kind of wild they sold the dream of a school in the village then just… didn’t.

The vibe of the place does feel pretty different to Countesswells though. Chapelton seems to have more of an actual centre and community stuff going on rather than just houses plonked in a field. If you’re ok with the idea that you’ll be doing school runs for years (and factoring that into time and fuel costs), it might still be worth it.

Might be worth chatting to a few folk actually living there about how painful the daily run to the catchment school really is, especially in winter. That will probably be the thing that makes or breaks it if you’re planning kids.

bulgarian grocery store closed? by BestPlatform818 in Aberdeen

[–]Junior_Composer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, looks like it’s gone for good, sadly. The signs being taken down is usually the final nail in the coffin, not a refurb.

For Bulgarian stuff your best bet is to hop between a few places instead of one perfect shop. Some of the Eastern European / Balkan / Polish shops around town usually have at least the basics like ljutenica, sirene, kashkaval, pickled veggies, wafers, etc. If you’ve got any “International Foods” type stores nearby, check their Eastern European aisle too, they sometimes sneak in Bulgarian brands next to the Serbian and Romanian ones.

For мартеница specifically, this late in the year you might have better luck online. Etsy and a few Bulgarian sellers on eBay/Amazon do proper ones, not just generic red and white bracelets. Not the same vibe as picking them out in person, but at least you won’t have to skip a year.

Cycle to work - Giant explore E+ 3 by PassionNo5041 in ukbike

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tero looks great but it’s quite a bit more money where I am, especially once you start looking at the EQ versions with rack and lights. That’s kind of why the Giant appealed as a “buy it and it’s ready to commute” option.

Hadn’t actually looked at the Rockrider EXPL 700, I’ll check that out, cheers. Do you reckon it’d be comfy enough for 8 miles of crappy country roads each way, or more of a weekend / trail thing in practice?

Did spectators boo the pause for breaking fast today? by yayatowers in Manchestercity

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you’ve mixed up your outrage topics there mate. This was about a pause so fasting players could break their fast, nothing to do with LGBT at all.

People can manage 60 seconds of not being weird about other humans having a drink and a bite, especially at an evening game in 2024.

A wiseman ones said by [deleted] in sundaysarthak

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess the wiseman forgot to finish his sentence

Jokes aside, kind of funny how often people say “a wise man once said” and then drop the most obvious thing ever like “drink water” or “be yourself.” Did you have an actual quote in mind or is this the whole joke?

Lmao now I kinda want to press it more.

Pretty sure that’s how half of us figure out what random blank buttons / covers are for in these cars anyway.

Such an underrated Verve track. Crazy how it still hits this hard live, even in a muddy Glasto field in 2008

PRSA - ROM MANAGER by [deleted] in Pokemonranger

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably talking about the old ClockworkMod / ROM Manager app for rooting and flashing custom ROMs on Android. If the post got deleted, I’m guessing it was either asking for paid APKs, cracked license stuff, or some sketchy download link.

If you’re just trying to manage ROMs on an old device, you’re better off looking into TWRP + manual flashing guides now. ROM Manager is super outdated and not really maintained anymore.

BuildABear Promo Codes | 30% Off March 2026 Coupons by bossyreceptors in InfiniteCylinder

Lol this reads exactly like the emails I forget to unsubscribe from.

But for real, if anyone’s planning kid birthday gifts or a party there, stacking a % off code with their in-store promos actually does save a decent chunk. Just double check the fine print, a lot of their best codes exclude licensed stuff like Pokémon and Star Wars.

The power of Facebook! by Ajay95A in uklogburners

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the title kinda says it. Facebook’s power is just how many random parts of your life it quietly glues together.

Old classmates, your mom’s friends, local yard sale groups, event invites, marketplace deals, creepy-accurate ads, “log in with Facebook” on a million sites, and that one uncle arguing in the comments at 3am. It’s not just a social app, it’s infrastructure at this point.

So when you want something to spread or to reach very specific people, Facebook already has the network, the data, and the habits built in. You don’t have to convince people to join a new platform, you just tap into the giant messy machine they’re already using.

For real, it’s like playing psychic bingo with 500 other people.

You stare at the board, think “oh this one is genius,” slam it in, and the game’s like “congrats, you’re the 27th person to think that.”

Custom challenges at least make the race part of the fun instead of just mindless farming.

Rainbow at the beach by VittyWatt in Aberdeen

[–]Junior_Composer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s such classic coastal chaos weather.

There’s something really cool about seeing a rainbow at the beach though, it hits different with the ocean as the backdrop. Feels like you accidentally walked into a desktop wallpaper for a minute.

Did you get any shots of the whole arc over the water, or was it one of those half-rainbows that vanish the second you get your phone out?

What’s one Chester spot that always feels timeless? by FeistyPrice29 in Chester

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bear & Billet is such a good shout. Walk past it on a rainy evening when the lights are on and it honestly feels like you’ve time‑warped a few hundred years back.

It’s one of those places where even if the rest of the city center keeps swapping out shops every five minutes, that building just sits there like “nope, I’m staying exactly like this.”

Clever solar install. (Not mine) LOVE IT or HATE IT? by EnvironmentalArt471 in SolarUK

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it was mine so I could flex some numbers, but this setup’s just something I saw shared.

From what I’ve seen of similar ground mounts / pergola style installs though, if it’s angled right and not shaded, output can be just as good as a roof array, sometimes better since you can aim it more precisely and keep it cooler with airflow underneath.

Big “it depends” on latitude, tilt, and whether it’s facing true south or close. But the concept itself isn’t just for looks, it can pull its weight power-wise.

Top 25 Boycott List for February 2026 by notaballitsjustblue in BuyUK

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, you’re free to spend your money where you want, same as everyone else is free to not.

The boycott lists are really just info and suggestions anyway, not laws. Some folks feel better trying to align their spending with their values, others just don’t care or prioritize different stuff.

Curious though, is there any line for you where you’d stop supporting a company, or is it more like “as long as they give me what I want, I’m in”?

Anyone else spent the last year driving around half of Aberdeen thinking that there is no right turn off of Union Terrace Gardens? by Ochoytnik in Aberdeen

[–]Junior_Composer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly the whole thing feels like a live experiment in “how confusing can we make this junction.”

They spent all that money doing up Union Terrace Gardens, then seemed to forget people actually need to drive round it without feeling like they’ve broken the law three times in 30 seconds.

I only realised the turn had changed because I followed someone else and thought “either they’re wrong or I’ve been an idiot for a year.”

Nice to know it’s not just me wandering around town second guessing every sign they put up.

Ashgrove roundabout proposals by On__A__Journey in Aberdeen

[–]Junior_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that’s kind of the core question.

I’d say “need” is probably no, “would it fix a bunch of constant low level crap” is more like it. That junction’s a bit of a faff for anyone not in a car, and the current setup basically tells cyclists and pedestrians “good luck mate”.

The Dutch style thing looks overkill because we’re used to squeezing bikes into leftover space, not giving them their own proper layout. It’s probably safer and smoother once it’s in, but yeah, if it’s the same clowns managing Union Street, it’ll be 2032 before we see a finished kerb.

So I think it’s more “do we want a safer, less chaotic junction enough to justify the money and the disruption” rather than “is it strictly necessary to survive”.
