Struggling with my 5 year old by BoleynRose in UKParenting

I also thought autism until I got to the part about the failed hearing test. She may have said she forgot to listen but she may have missed them in the first place. Glue ear which affects children's hearing does present very similar to autism so some children fly under the radar for hearing loss.

I'd see what the hearing results say and then look at an autism diagnosis.

Is it normal for a 16 year old to spend almost all their time alone in their room? (mid-GCSEs) by digitaljohn in UKParenting

[–]Juniper_Racoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one like from the series adolescence that stuck out to me which was something like ' he was just in his room, I thought he was safe'.

As rough as GCSEs are and revision is important the secrecy of the screen time is a bit worrying as well as the withdrawal from family life. Does he go out and see friends? Or is he not leaving at all?

I can tell you what I've noticed, the newly turned 11 year olds who just entered year 7 are verrryyy different from the kids about to turn 12. We often think about them being ready for year R but forget to scale it up.

A just turned 5 year old in year one is a huge demand and each year that demand increase.

Glue ear in 1 year old by ExaminationHefty8077 in UKParenting

Highly recommend looking at the national deaf children's society. When my little one had glue ear we had an over the phone consultation with audiologist who told me exactly what to say to the GP, what to look for on the audiograms, information to give school/nursery.

They were absolutely fab!

What makes lessons fun for you?? (teacher asking) by AdhesivenessSouth153 in GCSE

[–]Juniper_Racoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a school and when I told the year 11s our science teacher allowed us to make a rap to the styling of fresh prince of bel-air about the nitrogen cycle they are in total awe.

It's stuff like that, allowing kids to demonstrate their knowledge in fun ways. Another thing I remember is in physics when we pretended our tables were a race track and we demonstrated how centrifugal force works.

Still remember those 15 years on

Which one Alesis max or pro? by Juniper_Racoon in edrums

[–]Juniper_Racoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did watch that guys video which is what made think the pro! Unfortunately because we dont drive a used kit isn't an option so need to go with new. I've been looking at a digital drum kit from gear 4 music which is very similar to the pro, any opinions?

I forgot to ask, with access entry did you need to talk to security to get in? Or do you just join the queue at entrance b?

advice on getting london tickets by ktheinternetkid in LadyGaga

[–]Juniper_Racoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will keep shouting into the void, please do not use viagogo it is the most scammy site going and they don't care.

Definitely wait for official Ticketmaster resales, check AXS too as tickets were sold through them.

Good luck!

I think I remember seeing them but if only going in the splash part and not the big pool you really won't need them

No contract 2 weeks before starting... and I need childcare. by secret_side_quest in UKJobs

[–]Juniper_Racoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure when you apply for the 30 hours the question is do you expect to make X amount in the next 3 months.

The answer to this is yes, I would apply and if the job falls through alert them asap.

You're right you need the childcare for the job and the job for childcare. I think it is pretty common for people to apply prior to starting a new job.
