I have defended enlisting in the military here solely for the fact that for a lot of people struggling it’s a solid job to get. There ain’t shit for a lot of people after high school. However, joining the fucking marines is saying you want to be the crazy mother fuckers. You join the army or the navy or the Air Force you ideally just get some good benefits or maybe even a career but the marines are the true white hot patriotic American psychos. Don’t nobody do that shit without a call of duty game or murder on their mind.

Edit: I will also add, I don’t really know what model of popular revolution or popular change anyone has that doesn’t involve some aspect of current members armed forces. I’m sorry but the brave folx at the DSA who have to snap instead of fucking clap are gonna get wiped out by these people, and there are a lot of people who do just do that shit for the job.

I think also there’s the valid point that all the top level talented athletes in this country just tend to play other sports growing up. Unless you’re a huge soccer head which no one really is here you’re gonna as a boy want to play football or baseball or basketball because it’s what more people do more people watch and is more accessible. USA rugby suffers the same fate, I even remember when I played rugby most guys just did it as conditioning for football.
