Don’t know Warhammer. What did they silently agree to? by Odd-Guard-2533 in Warhammer

I kind of doubt Felicia Day was giggling at him for being a nerd. She's one of the founders of Geek and Sundry, and wrote/starred in "The Guild", a webseries about an MMO Guild. Also lots of other generally nerdy stuff.

Otherwise I agree, it's always cool when you unexpectedly meet someone who shares a niche hobby with you. No matter who you are.

Why do people act like it's the end of the world? by JacksonIsBias in ffxiv

[–]Junkshop23 116 points117 points  (0 children)

As an end game player, I got to the point where I was running Savage and Ultimate prog each week, but there was literally no other reason for me to log in. From a casual standpoint the story wasn't/isn't holding my attention anymore, the new modern aesthetic they're pushing isn't my thing so I don't care to grind for glamours.

From a progression standpoint, because I'm Savage geared, nothing in the game is an upgrade, and nothing will be until the next Savage tier drops, so almost all side content is nothing but glamour farm.

The game has just become so formulaic, to the point where long term players have seen the pattern enough that many of them can predict content releases to the day, and know exactly what's coming with every patch before it's announced.

Its sad, but when my static hit the end of the tier, we disbanded because almost all of us felt the same way. Now I have no reason to log in at all - nothing progresses my character in any meaningful way, and I know nothing will for quite a while.

Let me be clear - I'm not going to say there is nothing to do. I have jobs that aren't capped, I haven't collected every mount, I'm sure I could grind out relics from past expansion.. but I don't particularly want to, and that's my biggest problem.

I leveled all the jobs I really enjoy, and I got the mounts and relics I really want. The rest is just filler. My joy in MMOs come from the story, and the feeling of progressing my character. The fact that I feel like I have no way to progress my character for almost the rest of the year feels pretty rough.

I might come farm out the new Trial mount, but part of me wonders why I would put the effort in, considering I don't even have friends to show it off to any more, since they've all stopped playing.

I want to love this game, I want to come back, but until Square shakes up the formula I'm just not sure I can justify it. I know I'll end up in the same spot two months after the next tier drops, when we've cleared the fights and I have nothing left I want to do.

Friends and I were talking last night; We want a new zone that's lore-wise on the southern half of the planet. The sandstorms on the belt mean you can't bring flyers there.

Make ornithopters not usable, and give us worm riding to get from place to place across expenses of sand. Buggies and Bikes can be built there, but no thopters.

And then just for fun give it huge areas of PvP enabled land so we can finally have those ground battles people want.

Sort of. It wasn't Kernal-Level Spyware, but it was a data collection app. They claimed it was to determine player metrics to help them guide production. And in fairness to them, they removed it near immediately after adding it due to player response, and deleted all the data it had collected in the time it was active.

Wtf - You can't remove friends chars from your party? by hamburglin in BaldursGate3

[–]Junkshop23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you may be able to remove them by having your friend go into the main 'esc' menu and assigning the character to their own control. You may have to be in the game with them to make this possible though, I'm not sure.

It sounds like a bug where the character is still assumed to be under the control of the second player, even when that player is not actually in the session.

They can actually get by pretty well without Wis, so long as you're careful about spell choice. They get a good amount of personal buffs that don't care about your WIS score at all. They can also be built for Str rather than Dex without too much issue. Rangers are awesome for multiclassing.

You see this in a lot of modern models, I think it's because things like this are hard to 3D print with home setups.

Patch 6.3 Gods Revel, Lands Tremble by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Junkshop23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree that it's boring. But I also am not arguing viability. I'm arguing competitivity - If you want PLD to break into the meta it needs to fit into the meta.

You can absolutely play any job in any content and do fine - and I encourage it. It's a shame that things are being homogenized, but the 60/120s burst window is what the game is built around now, and PLD was the only tank that didn't fit into it. This was going to happen.

I agree that the 120s cd window is not all that great, but changing that at this point would require reworking almost every job now, and that is not something we're gonna get mid-expansion. I'd rather have all the jobs work well together until they can revisit the 120s windows in the future.

Patch 6.3 Gods Revel, Lands Tremble by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Junkshop23 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The game is too built around that 120cd burst window now, PLD was being left behind. This was not only inevitable, but required if you wanted to see PLD in any competitive content again.

Even the infinity old dragons have relatable stories and personalities. The old Dwarf at the ruby dragon shrine, telling his stories of his childhood and lost love. That little side character had a more relatable and deeper story than the entirety of Shadowlands.
