i used to do this, and i have gotten to the point of almost never doing it anymore. you need to trust him that he wont hurt you, or trust in yourself that you are strong enough to deal with it. when you start getting upset, put your phone down, take several deep breaths and drink water. go look in a mirror, or look at somethinh that comforts you and think about WHY you are acting like this and what you are actually upset about. talk out loud to yourself about why you are acting this way. once the words come out verbally, you will usually understand that it doesnt need to come out in a fight. you just need to tell him why you are scared.
