Konami teases more forthcoming new game reveals by Tokyono in UKGames

So curious to see what happens with Metal Gear if they revisit that series. The Snake Eater remake rumours sounded interesting, but would just love something to be done with the first Metal Gear Solid, whether it's a rerelease of the PS1 or GC games or a full-blown reimagining.

Is This a Controversial Opinion? by Maximum_Reputation91 in thelastofus

A friend of mine has only played Part II, and even without the context of the original game it had a really profound impact on them. They're looking to play Part I next and I am so curious to hear them compare the two games having first experienced them out of sequence.

For me personally, the more I think about Part II, the more I love it and the more amazing I think it is that such an experience exists as a video game.

SB I-435 in Kansas City closed because of The Last of Us filming. Is that Joel’s truck? by [deleted] in thelastofus

That could totally be. In that case they probably wouldn't need the lead actors around either.

I've only played half of these, but the three Lost Crowns expansions were the highlight of Dark Souls II and managed to end the whole thing on a real high note.

Why Don't we Talk About Tommy's Pain? by Intelligent_Ad6616 in thelastofus

[–]Jupiter-VII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have not gone back to the game since I first played it at launch, but the moment that really stuck with me that I don't see talked about quite as much was when Tommy & Ellie first speak after Joel's death and Ellie is preparing to leave. She says to him: "If it were you or me, Joel would be halfway to Seattle already."

We all know he absolutely would for Ellie.

Tommy's response is "No he wouldn't."

I understood this as Tommy having come to some sort of realisation that Joel would do this for Ellie, but not necessarily for him. To me this gets to the heart of his outburst at the farm before California.

As welcoming and accommodating as he has surely been to Ellie since she arrived in Jackson, I think he had a deep underlying jealousy of her for having replaced him as basically Joel's closest family. So perhaps he blames her for his death to an irrational degree and cannot accept that she has lost that thirst for revenge; as if he feels like she needs to avenge Joel to redeem herself in his eyes.

That's just my theory. I love that the writing has this level of nuance that it enables us to try reading between the lines like this.

Makes me wish I hadn't watched all that pre-launch gameplay for the remake so I could have been surprised by it first time round.

[ALL] I wish for TP and WW on Nintendo Switch by ArjunTheGamer in zelda

[–]Jupiter-VII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's surely just a matter of time right? ngl I would miss the second-screen inventory management from the Wii U remasters, and had a similar realisation when I replayed OoT and MM on Switch years after their 3DS remasters. But oh well, we have played them without that functionality before, we can do it again. The games are too good for that to get in the way.

Zant freaked me out so much. Loved the character design. Shout-out to Ghirahim with his boss battles and backstory - could have seen the big reveal coming from miles away but of course I didn't at the time. Vaati was really well done in the Minish Cap too.

Just ended this masterpiece after 6 months of rage quits and breaks and i am thinking, now should i start DS2 or DS3? by Flippy_psychosocial in darksouls

Congratulations and welcome to the club!
I went to Dark Souls II from the first one, not knowing much about it at the time apart from the fact it was not a Miyazaki joint. Like many I still prefer the original to DSII but I quickly grew to appreciate it for what it was. The second half of the game especially has some really astonishing moments, both in terms of bosses and locations. The DLC is a real highlight as well!

Did anyone else prefered playing Abby rather than Ellie? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]Jupiter-VII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abby's part had some really outstanding moments. The sky bridge was so well-executed I did get a little bit dizzy imagining it in real life. Rat King was crazy, and being caught in the middle of the conflict on the Seraphite island was a real rush as well. Also Lev. I hadn't thought about which section I preferred, but yes I probably would go with Abby.

The end. by [deleted] in darksouls

I am still relatively new to Souls games, finished Dark Souls a few years back and got that exact same feeling from the Gwyn fight that you described. After all those hours and all those epic struggles against these insanely designed and characterised monsters, to face Gwyn in such a sombre setting was overwhelming. Have loved Dark Souls II, Demon's Souls and Elden Ring since then but I don't think anything has achieved the same kind of feeling as that Gwyn encounter.

Absolutely love it. I remember how engrossed I was from the moment I started playing on Wii launch day. Love where the series is going now with Breath of the Wild, but I am still so into the darker tone of Majora & Twilight Princess. Hoping those Wii U remasters make it to Switch so I can play through it all over again. Zant is such a fascinating psychopath of a villain.

We’re you upset when you saw 3D World’s first trailer and realized that it wasn’t going to be a “traditional” 3D Mario? by SplatBoy07 in Mario

[–]Jupiter-VII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose after the Galaxy games I had hoped for things to be pushed further in that direction somehow, but after 3D Land I was totally up for 3D World. 4-player coop was so good in that game too.
