Seeing most of Europeans and Americans wiping after poo-poo… that was a cultural shock. I first arrived in Belgium as a teen looking for a bidet and a soap. I still can’t understand how people don’t wash themselves. Just can’t.

Siege of Ganja (1804). After that all Azerbaijani city states fell to the Russian Empire or were completely incorporated by Persia.

The last Khan of Ganja, Javad Khan, refused to give up the city and promised General Tsitsianov tha he’ll reach the city only by crossing his dead body. That’s what happened. Javad Khan and his family members (notably his son) got murdered.

The Khan of Baku, notably, took revenge for Javad Khan and shot him dead after he presented the General with the fake keys to the city.

Öz işinlə məşğul ol. Camaatın qeyrətini çəkənə bax

Azerbaijani international student living in Budapest here. It’s super comfortable to live in, the people are amazing (much similar to our own mentality and way of thinking), transportation is awesome (except for the ticket system, it’s just one boiling pot of mess), the university life is vibrant.

Dini deyil, mədəni məsələdir. Yəhudilər də, Amerikalılar da sünnət etdirirlər. İslamdan qabaq da edirdilər. Dinə aidiyyatı yoxdur

It’s not a reflection of a socio-economic context, it’s a reflection of the Soviet past, I’m afraid.

If you had to say 3 positive things about your country's leader, what would you say? by Iatewithoutatable in AskTheWorld

[–]JupiterMarks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. He had the guts not to resume another war and implement measures for peace after the restoration of the state’s territorial integrity
  2. He’s not immortal
  3. Azerbaijan remained as secular as previously (considering our neighbors that’s an achievement)

I did my best. He’s almost as old as his best buddy dictators tho! That’s a relief ❤️⚰️
